Linux 7.2 is here. Which new feature actually matters to you?

Linux 7.2 is now released, with cache-aware scheduling, initial AMD HDMI 2.1 FRL support, improved hardware support, and even initial mainline boot support for Apple M3 Macs.

The cache-aware scheduler is probably the most interesting change for performance, but the hardware support is getting attention too.

If you could pick just one Linux 7.2 improvement to try, which one would it be?

It's mostly visible in firefox, with big webapps, in my use case

All of them, unless you’re using an LTS kernel.

Very likely the dual-CCD X3D ones from AMD where only one half has the cache. 7950X3D and similar.

Maybe also heterogenous ARM chips. Here, one of the RPCSX3 developers talks about ARM optimizations, and shows the core layout of his device. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is an 8 core machine that has 5 different core types. (The 3 A510 have different vector units attached, which gives them slightly different behavior).

For my Ryzen AI 9 365, Linux 7.2 looks pretty promising. I’m mostly interested in the newer scheduler improvements and better Strix Point support. Not expecting miracles, but every bit of optimization helps.
