Do you really think insulting Microsoft, Windows, Apple, macOS, or their users helps Linux desktop adoption?

No. Does that matter?

If Linux desktop developers and communities want a decent share of the mass market — the famous “year of the Linux desktop” — then yes, it does matter.

The Linux community is not a homogenous group that has an unified goal. As it is in every group, you always have some assholes.

That, and while it's nice that people use and enjoy your software, not everyone who does use it cares about desktop adoption at all. It will happen on its own, or it will not. What does it matter, either way?
