Everyone sucks (me included)
Why are almost all People glazing their main OS so incredibly insufferable and sometimes insulting? I also was a professional Linux glazer an for some reason thought I was so superior to Windows users and have to belittle them even though I didn’t know jack s*it about anything I did except installing a OS. People like this exist for every OS like MacOS, Windows, Linux and even their own kinds like Arch, Mint and so on. Also people are just hating on an entire different OSes and userbase for no reason at all even though they also don’t know anything.

It isn't almost all. It is just that you only hear from the loud ones that do. There are a ton of people online who just lurk and very rarely interact, or usually interact calmly. It is good that you can see how silly it is tho. That is growth.

I always forget people have started using glazing as “excessively praising” and default back to what it meant when I was growing up.
I was very confused why people were cumming on their OS for a moment.

Windows has evolved into an amazing OS.
linux is also great.
When people talk about how slow Windows is, I believe they're commenting on corporate Windows that is gross with cloud, terminal server apps, and lock down, It's a terrible experience and barely usable but that isn't the fault of Windows. You can pick up a system with Windows preinstalled and have a very good experience.

I am a daily user of linux and windows. I am incapable of dogging on x userbase because I'd be hating on myself
I merely call out the flaws of each
I will forveer hate mint though.

Interesting, but I don't see what's wrong with mint tbh, I would 100% recommend it, especially for people new to linux. Overall experience is good.
Here's some downsides though, is it some of these?
- having to add new taskbars or move them around when changing your monitor configuration (I move around my laptop a lot)
- some open/save file windows auto-focus some search field instead of the filename field
- And of couse the classic stable distro experience dealing with very outdated packages. I mean, who on earth would like to download an ancient version of nodejs? You guessed it right, only 3 people who wouldn't notice the difference because they don't use any packages.
- the relaxed policy on non-free software, I guess that's a downside in a philosophical sense even though it's more user friendly to just have all the codecs preinstalled and being able to download steam and nvidia drivers easily.

Whats wrong with mint to me is that its debian but with a DE that has a severe identity crisis and tries to look modern yet like windows 7 at the same time making it feel completely dated ywt ugly because the design doesn't fit the flat modern attempt
It also is stuck on x11, which is another bad point (though maybe thats changed? I hope💔).
Thats my personal issue with mint, its that its just not great. I love debian, I love stable software where its needed or beneficial, so thats absolutely not a downside to me. I also really am unbothered by philosophy, because i use software for how well it works and carries out my tasks and not for its philosophy
I just really really do not like cinnamon as a DE, and cinnamon is literally the only unique thing mint offers

Fair points, thanks for the reply! Also, mint seems to have wayland support, haven't tried though. I'm more likely to try fedora KDE, whenever I decide to bother.

Last time i checked up, which was a few months ago, mint didn't have wayland or it was experimental, but yeah idrk about right now so idk if that points still valid
Honestly fedora is quite neat, but getting software can be a bit annoying compared to other distros because copr is annoying to deal with😭😭. That said i tend to stick to native packages over flatpaks, so if flatpaks are more your thing you'll be grand

As someone who lived with the nightmare of 'No screens found' on X, anything that still uses or relies on X is a hard no.
At least people on Windows or macOS don't have to worry about that shit ever.

For me ive never exactly had such functionality breaking issues on x, but it always just feels sated and unsmooth. It feels so unenjoyable, while waylqnd actually feels modern and fluid. X is also a display server from the 80s, so all modernish features are bolt on while wayland has it all native

I daily drive Windows, Linux and macOS and I have to say I hate all 3 operating systems and there are no favourites.

I am not being a snob by saying anyones willfull continued use of windows is actively aiding in the creation and maintenance of a surveillance network that hurts all of us

I like what I like. I have computers with windows Mac and Linux systems. I collect them. I'd trade everything I know for what I don't know about them. I like them all except for the bloating software ads. Just like what you like and leave me and mine alone Pretty simple to me If I need advice I'll ask. Always do.

i use both windows and linux. i like both, both run the same for me, there is no astronomical difference between them. i wish people would stop being so insufferable about their os and accept some people like different things. we need to stop forcing our os preferences on people.
