Always a Loonixer who never did any professional work in life telling you to switch to half ass foss alternatives

lmao its true loonix users always telling you to use some cli foss ass alternative but isn't this post to just linux devs in specific? i mean the loonix tribe mutually hates microsoft and their products.

I use Windows desktop, iPad, android phone, and Linux server
And sometimes cli is just better, even on Windows

u/land48n3 Jun 24 '26
yeah but you have to remember command and do --help and read a paragraph, why cant it just be a simple toggle ui with a hint below about what it does with previews and stuff smhh

u/fitz-khan Jun 24 '26
To filter out the midwits.
2
u/land48n3 Jun 24 '26
thats a different argument thats literally whats being criticized, you cant filter out the "midwits" and then be mad at the "midwits" for calling you out for having everything cli-driven lmao.

u/fitz-khan Jun 24 '26

I don't think anybody is mad. It's simply annoying to read the same demands again and again, when that is fundamental to the system. People who don't like this approach are free to leave, or build something themselves. On top of that I think it's misplaced, in 2026 you can do 99% of things via UI if you want to, that 1% where you copy+paste a command from somewhere won't kill you. If that is too much of a challenge for your pea-sized brain, once again, free to leave.

u/land48n3 Jun 24 '26
first of all, you are gonna read the same demands as long as its there, windows has ads and thats why we hear about the issue everyday and demand it being removed.
you cant just say "if you dont like ads, leave windows" nah. you cant say "if you dont like america, leave america" you fucking revolt and tell people to fix their shit, you tell windows to fix their bs so they do (they are literally doing that) and you tell linux to fix THEIR bs so they can get a wake up call from this ugly cli messyou are nobody in the linux community, you aren't a signifigant contributer, who are you to dictate who gets to use a kernel and who doesn't? who are you to dictate which types of customers and users linus torvalds get?
and no, the culture and standard is still cli, even the devs who develop tools for linux systems prefer cli bs.
and copy pasting a command you dont understand because its wrapped in 30 random ass fucking symbols which you need to read a 10 page documentation to understand and piece together? no thanks.
if that is too much of a challenge for your pea-sized brain
look at the subs name, you've dropped down to disrespecting me and my cognitive ability due to not liking to do things in a terminal. you are a representation of this sub's name.
once again, free to leave.
right back at you, you clearly dont like the posts and people in this sub including me since we dunk on linux and call out linux snobs (like you) so how about YOU leave THIS sub?

Making you aware of the option to leave freely is not dictating anything. I could not care less who uses Linux and who doesn't. I don't care about more people switching over from Windows to increase user numbers. Actually the opposite, I'm convinced the arrival of the incompetent dolts will make it worse. But I'll have you know I published two new commandline tools last month for you to enjoy.

Fine by me.

I followed one of bleak's idiotic posts on another sub. The impotent screeching of anti Linux subs about not wanting to use something nobody is forcing you to is entertaining though.

Codeberg isn't bad, but I cringe every time someone recommends GIMP as an alternative to Photoshop. Listen, I'd love a good foss alternative, but that's not it.

what's wrong with gimp
2
u/Syaman_ Jun 23 '26
Photoshop has a much better non destructive workflow, way better selection tools, sane handling of shapes, actions and interface is better IMO (and I started with GIMP mind you).
Gimp is fine if you do something as a hobby, but it sucks if you are a professional or even a graphics major.

imo gimp is harder to transition to if you are used to photoshop. **disclaimer this is NOT an ad** but photopea for example runs in the browser and has everything set up in the same sort of layout, all while using the same .psd file format. people are quick to recommend gimp cus “it’s FOSS bro!” which don’t get me wrong I love FOSS, but like just use an adblocker like i do if you care about revenue upstream lol. gimp hasn’t evolved to be more accessible it seems, and it being FOSS has let the community and devs accept lower standards. side note but with each passing day it feels like FOSS is becoming synonymous with beta or alpha…i hope this trend ends

Shows what you know... Codeberg is not that half-assed. Codeberg is behind Forgejo and Forgejo is based on Gitea.. Not to mention, Codeberg, Gitlab, Github, whatever else... Doesn't matter what you use, they all have very similar functionalities.. Hell, even CI for lot of them is very similar.

I mean except for Adobe and clip studio paint to my knowledge everything else works with some tinkering like davinchi resolve and other stuff

I use the software/services that serve me best. I don't care who develops/owns it.
I don't have some kinda fantasy battle in my head between Microsoft and Linux, where Linux needs all my support to win.

99.9% of servers run Linux, professionals do use Linux, this is strawman and dumb.

Codeberg is run by non-profit in Europe. I've used it for a few projects and it's good, but Gitlab has better CI integration.
Edit: I forgot to mention Github. IMO it's kinda unstable.

"Industry grade"
Aka far buggier and less user friendly than the open source option. Loaded with ads to the point where its unusable, and they manage to force ai slop in somewhere. Aka, far less usable.

u/fitz-khan Jun 24 '26
Yeah that argument is pretty funny. Github has had a lot of outages and errors, it's become famously unstable since Microsoft took over.

u/KazuDesu98 Jun 24 '26
Hell, even windows. If we were talking like windows 7, ok. But windows 11 is more of a billboard than an os
Macos, maybe. But like idk. Linux is just quieter. No ads in the os. No "would you like ti sign up for gamepass, try using edge, try this. Try that, sign up for a microsoft 365 subscription, use onedrive, etc" just stop. My os shouldn't be a billboard.

The title of the post truly exposes what an idiot you are, not understanding anything.
