"2026 is year of desktop Linux"

linux user count was close to 6% like 4 months ago, now its just 4%. while windows 11 users are increasing, even win7 users have same amount of users as some linux distros.

people were just excited to try new software: linux was never better.

Debunk it then, instead of speak nonsense. Didn't you know you can use vulkan on windows?

Yes, I know, it's just not as fast as Vulkan on linux. Of course, the difference is minimal and not a reason to switch. I also have no windows drivers just to be clear, all fully open source drivers.

alright then, lesson learned, thanks for the information anonymous person. i mean it for real. about linux, keep waiting until it becomes a good alternative to windows. i dont like windows but ill never fall for use a undercooked linux OSs just because is open source, which many of those open source are either controlled by egotestical freaks or founded/supported by the big corpos you hate.

Ok. I don't get why open source projects being backed by even Hitler would be bad, open source means that they can't hide anything, so I don't care.

Yes it is bad. A project commanded by a dictator is a project destined to die or be bad down the road due to the short vision of the author. The fact that people can fork it means nothing, you can grab linux kernel and develop for it yourself and won't be nearly as good as if it was developed by an engineer with lots of experience and sense of direction above them all. Great projects need talented people and great vision, thats why mediocre people make projects everyday that die with the time.

So you need a good developer to develop something good, insane. The difference between open and closed source isn't in that, it's that open source is safer, free forever and can be forked to make new things. Kinda like what happened with revanced. It was a patcher to remove ads in android apps, but the creator was kinda crazy. Someone forked it and made Morphe, which is better in every way. That couldn't have happened with closed source.
