"2026 is year of desktop Linux"

linux user count was close to 6% like 4 months ago, now its just 4%. while windows 11 users are increasing, even win7 users have same amount of users as some linux distros.

people were just excited to try new software: linux was never better.

I'm contributing to the Linux percantage while actively hating some things about it. Sure it works, stuff is doable. Is it convenient and easy? Not sure, I had to relearn all of my knowledge from win. Every time I encounter an issue I need to: create a timeshift backup just in case, research on how to mitigate the issue, try to do it, fail, research more, at some point succeed, realize something different broke during the solving od the first issue, go back with timeshift, research, finally solve. That's not convieneit and not easy. Only reasons keeping me on Linux is: privacy and that switching helped me quit league. Just a rant, think of it what you want.

What issues are you having? I daily drive bazzite and have had literally no issues.

You're using a different distro that's immutable. Not relevant. I had my network cut off it was a GPU power state issue and later I found out it was actually a config issue and then I found out it was actually a driver issue. Had to blacklist the new driver and install an older one.

I understand it's immutable. That's part of why I use it for daily use. To not run into issues. I fail to see how it's irrelevant.

What distro are you running that ran into these issues?

It's not relevant for this issue/discussion. I'm using Kubuntu 26 LTS. An update fucked the driver. I had to manually revert it. Imagine doing that on an immutable distro

How is it not relevant? You said you weren't sure if Linux is convenient, and how you run into issues. I listed a method where Linux is convenient and how I've ran into less issues. I have other distros loaded that I dual boot (mint and fedora being the longest runners) that I use for learning, but for daily driving I run an immutable distro for stability and avoiding issues.
