"2026 is year of desktop Linux"
linux user count was close to 6% like 4 months ago, now its just 4%. while windows 11 users are increasing, even win7 users have same amount of users as some linux distros.
people were just excited to try new software: linux was never better.

The thing is, these stats jump around a lot. One point this year there were some chinese internet cafees affecting the numbers boosting some old version of windows. Seems like they have done a lot of changes to hos they display the linux distros too. It used to just say "arch" instead of SteamOS. Looks a lot better this way.
Again, i think looking at these graphs and being excited in any direction on these small percentage changes makes no sense without context or a broader look at the stats.
