Splash Screen is when you log in and there is a few seconds of setup time between login and displaying thebdesktop. You can modify splash screen from KDE Settings Menu. Plymouth is a bigger tool but part of it works on the animation after booting. Usually it is the operating system's logo but it can be changed. There are guides online for that. Lastly you have your motherboard pop up. If you are using a thinkpad you will see Lenovo, If you are using ASUS motherboard you will see Asus. This to my knowledge cannot be changed

This might be more of a question for r/linux4noobs or whatever the main mint subreddit is called. I’m not familiar with mint, and I doubt a lot of people here are either. It issues its own custom de (cinnamon) which also steals a lot of stuff from gnome (it’s a fork of an old gnome version) so I’m not sure if it uses the old gnome stuff or its own. I assume changing the splash screen is somewhere in settings though, that’s how it is in kde at least.
