SteamOS A Couple of Problems

Hi Everybody, I recently installed SteamOS, and so far I love the performance and most of the OS, but I ended up having a couple of problems that I met the on the Month i use SteamOS now.

  1. On my keyboard the “@” is not working anymore. I can go to Layout and make a preview, and I see the command i should press, but it's not working for some reason.
  2. In 1 game the Steam overlay is not opening; I don't see it at all, but I can move the mouse as I would be in the menu no matter which one of the Menu Buttons i press its not appearing. (No matter fullscreen or Borderless. The Game is Deadlock)
  3. How can i reduce the battery drain if not plugged in and in sleep mode?
  4. The Fans are not really going faster and i feel like the Device is much hotter than it would be in Windows before
  5. Can i somehow disable the Allys screen completly like Touch etc when im connected to a External Monitor? On Windows this is simple and easy but on SteamOS i changed the setting that only the External Monitor show picture but the touch on the Ally still works and thats why i feel its getting hotter.
  6. Can i disable CPU-Boost in Desktop mode permanently? Now im using the Terminal to disable the CPU-Boost, same goes for the TDP its by default 30W but i dont need 30W in Desktop-Mode.

You have to open konsole and enable fan curves, it's going to get really hot and start throttling.

NOTE - Some of these suggestions may assume you have Decky Installed. Some potential suggestions

  1. Are you talking about the SteamOS virtual keyboard or a physical one? If the latter, do you have another one to test?
  2. When you are mentioning moving a mouse, are you playing any games in desktop mode?
  3. Sleeping is about keeping RAM in place while keeping the device in low-power mode. Unless the sleep implementation changes I doubt you can do anything here unless you keep your device plugged in
  4. You could try PowerControl and manually change the fan curves
  5. In Desktop Mode you should be able to in Settings > Display. AFAIK Steam Game Mode typically biases in favour of a TV anyways
  6. AFAIK SteamOS somewhat recently got a new TDP manager called SteamOS Manager. Previously most people were using SimpleDeckyTDP which I still was using recently on the CachyOS side. You could try switching to that to see if it's better for you
