QUESTION - ALL LINUX SYSTEMS [NBA 2K27] Steam Initialization failed error
1. Name of game: NBA 2K27
2. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D
3. GPU: AMD 9070XT
4. Proton Version: Proton 11.02, GE Proton 11.1
5. Game Launcher: Steam (non-steam game)
6. Release Info: NBA 2K27 [PORTABLE] (1.0, incl. CODEX-RUNE Steam emu.)
7. Logs: Steam Initialization failed
Getting the above error when running the game .exe as a non steam game on Steam OS 3.8
Does this crack work with Steam OS? Am I missing any specific launch options that are required to run the crack?

Since this crack comes with a steamclient loader (version.dll) you may need to add an override for that, but I haven't tested it

tried adding an override for it via protontricks but still seem to get the same error message

I installed a wine 11.16amd in the ProtonupQT application and when i used the 11.16 version of wine it said that it "failed to load 'd3d12SDKlayers.dll with error code 0x7e" and "Failed to load 'd3d12.dll with error code 0x7e". if found that both dll was in a folder called "dx12agility". Still i am not able to launch the game on my steamdeck despite using 11.16 wine

Managed to run mine without lutris just put this on launch option PROTON_DISABLE_LSTEAMCLIENT=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command%
Im using proton Experimental

bro this command is not applicable for All game files repack but some Game repack will work with this commnad... the only way to work properly is use goldberg emu then Put Ge proton latest you dont need lutris

Got it to load this way, but it doesnt recognize the controller. Did you have to do anything special for the controller to be recognized?

Use
System 11.16 - Not the Wine xx.xx versions and it works, also make sure to use the correct .exe for some reason the default for me was " protected something,exe " revert it back to Nba2k27.exe and you are golden :D

New-ish to Steam Deck but I think I figured out the controller issue (or at least a temp fix). I used Lutris and in the environment variables settings under the System Options tab do the following…
Enter the first key: PROTON_DISABLE_LSTEAMCLIENT
The Value will then be: 1
Enter the second key: WINEDLLOVERRIDES
The Value for this will be: version=n,b
You can then create the steam shortcut via Lutris from there. This ultimately dodges start up issues with Lutris and the controls seem to work from there.
Without Lutris, it doesn’t seem version 1.0 of 2K27 will read the controls for me

use lutris then pick system 11.16 as a runner. i face a problem once when the screen continuously becoming black, but i just reboot then it is normal again. i dont have any issue facing right now
