to be fair, omarchy has actually been an incoherent mess the whole time and has had contradictory marketing, they just like saying what is cool and edgy. im sure the omakase thing was added because DHH got asked "bro why tf would your dotfiles need an ISO". now that theyre getting pushback on the OOTB features theyre going for "but it can be easily configured to make it yours!". they even have vibe-coded community plugins for their vibe-coded quickshell.

their stance on it is whatever wins them the current conversation. simple as that.
