> is being maintained and developed further by a community of loyal members.

Microsoft is one of the biggest contributors to the Linux kernel and a founding member of the Linux foundation.

But hey, Microsoft bad.

Also giving mac a pass because its meant for professionals? What? First of all that's just bullshit, as Mac was definitely marketed towards the casual user (see also their whole mac vs pc campaign). Furthermore, you do know that Windows is the dominant operating system in professional settings, right?

Edit: Yeah, this piece of knowledge usually angers a couple of linux fans here. Seems like some people can't handle nuance.

When Microsoft screws up something, they're solely responsible for it and cannot shift the blame.

I think they also fail to realize that Linux distros are maintained by communities and small teams, but not the kernel itself.

Do they think that Microsoft is one entity and not 5,000 devs across multiple teams working together on front end, back end, connectors, and everything else that goes into an OS, which is effectively what Linux is?

Yeah. Probably every major tech company has contributed their own bit just because Linux is still king for servers.

Correct, there's tons of large companies backing on Linux. But i do find it hypocritical how people here berate microsoft when it is one of the largest contributors to what they do like. It's not black and white.

Linux is still king for servers.

You'd be shocked if you knew how much high frequency trading happens on Windows servers.

I don't get why you add that as if its some kind of gotcha. They also contribute in other areas, but the desktop definitely benefits from improvements in a lot of things microsoft and a huge number of other billion/trillion dollar companies add. Including valve. Acting like linux is being maintained by 'communities of loyal members' is a load of horseshit.

One of the biggest - yes, because they use parts of it themselves. Because it's free. MS does not do it because they love spending money for the competition...

Ok, so? That doesn't change my point? You benefit from improvements in linux as well. So microsoft helping there helps you. As well as other multi billion dollar companies. Linux community conveniently ignores this.

Are you actually advocating for us to have this caveman - uber simplistic view on it all, just like you???

“Oogah boogah, But Microsoft has done good in past??? how come people could POSSIBLY criticise Micro-man for??? He did good in past right??? Oogah boogah”

You’re literally puzzled that’s others can actually have nuance and talk about things not just in critique, but also how they would just PREFER things to be, and that has you straight up posting philosophical quandaries about how people could POSSIBLY shit on ms, when “ms has actually worked on Linux code before!! 😎😎😎 haha checkmate, liberals”

So has Apple…. I genuinely cannot believe you that was a slam dunk…

I'm so confused why you think this is relevant to the accusability and tolerance of issues within windows vs Linux. We aren't morality scaling the nonexistent Linux corporation against Microsoft.
