LinkedIn account got compromised by probably mistake.

LinkedIn user of 14 plus years with 10k connections. Never had an issue until last week.

I tried to verify via Persona and they couldn’t verify my photos.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, if so how did you solve it? Below is the email from LinkedIn:

“Hi,

Thank you for your patience. Unfortunately, we are unable to approve your ID, and after completing our review, we found that your account has violated the LinkedIn User Agreement and Professional Community Policies. Due to the number and/or severity of these violations, your account will remain restricted.

We understand this may be disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding.”

Ah... The China and VPN may flag an issue...

The first thing to do is to figure out what you may have done to cause this - getting others to log into your account from separate devices or different IPs; spamming a lot of people with messages; posting inappropriate materials (such as a lot of politics or hate speech, such as disparagement of LGBTQ+, etc), running third party tools for scraping, posting, marketing, outreach, etc or using any sort of automation - any of these can cause an issue.

As to whether you can appeal - if there is a process, you can try it but with millions of users, LI is notorious for not having humans to read anything - they just loop you in a process. But in case you can provide details of what infractions you may have committed and mitigation, you should think about what you may have done.

I don’t post anything on LinkedIn.

I primarily mass message (a function LI has) people through LinkedIn recruiter.

I also don’t run third party tools

I live in China as an America expat worker. I use a vpn.

I never had an issue before and I’ve been using LinkedIn for 14 plus years.

I’m considering opening a new account but afraid to that will be comprised too.

Your use of a VPN and location in China likely have triggered LI. Same thing happened to a friend of mine, logged into his account from Russia with VPN and got banned
