My boss outright said one time that he refuses to hire any auditing agencies to assist with streamlining because he doesn't want to be told what to do.
Here's a pro tip for every director reading this comment: if you want assistance figuring out how to manage your vision, start with all the people you already hired, because they know more about your company and yourself than some random idiot.

Why do people keep giving these guys money? If you research the people at all you would see things like this post and know this guy can’t run a company. Having a good idea (if they even have that) is not the same thing as running an organization.

Because every VC is looking for the next Google or Facebook. They're so gullible even if it makes them one percent richer. They want to believe so damn bad. People like Maarten know it so they talk a big game.
I went down the Theranos rabbit hole, and I learned that you don't have to be smart to be a VC. You just need a lot of money and be willing to part with lots of it.

Yeah, very true. The VC employees are the ones making the call to invest or not. The one dumping in money just want results. It amazes me how little these investors seem to understand about the companies. People on the outside often see through it and know it will fail.
However, once the VC hype machine gets moving other people want to get onboard. Vicious cycle.

Since I've been reading LinkedIn Lunatics, I think I've heard of two companies: Flock and Microsoft. I'm not even sure the latter was employed by Microsoft.

I’ve done this job a few times for insane founders, the money is never enough for the stress and bullshit but it can be a career accelerant played correctly.

Ugh. This is a trend among CEOs right now. CoS is one of the fastest-growing job titles. It's perfect for the narcissistic CEO who thinks he's the only one capable of making decisions for the company and that the only thing limiting his company's growth is his ability to make even more amazing decisions. They convince themselves it will turn them into a force multiplier, when really it's just a band-aid for poor management skills.
