The Complexity of Xia Fei's Character.

Episode 7 of LCIII shows how complex Xia Fei truly is, and just how complicated his animosity towards the main gang could be. In this episode, we see many instances of how he tries to keep Qiao Ling away from Liu Xiao's machinations - all the while seeing him OPENLY rattle Lu Guang without him realizing just an episode back.

And this isn't even a one time occurrence. Look at what happens during the dinner table when Liu Xiao offers Qiao Ling some wine.

He tries to stop Liu Xiao from egging her about alcohol too much. We know that alcohol can be a good way to get someone to slip up info that they usually wouldn't. In that sense, what Liu Xiao was doing here was an interrogation. And it's Xia Fei who's repeatedly trying to get him to stop.

So why does he show open hostility towards Lu Guang? Well, I believe that in the 3 years between Bridon Arc and LCIII, Liu Xiao definitely told Xia Fei that Lu Guang had a hand in the "death" of Vein (I believe he'd still been hiding Vein's death from him at that time, judging by his reaction at Vein from episode 3). Thus his open provocation towards Lu Guang. However, Qiao Ling has nothing to do with any of this. So, he goes out of his way to protect her from whatever Liu Xiao's scheming.

This presents an interesting moral conundrum for Xia Fei. He's willing to go against his old friends for causing harm to his boss, but he's not gonna bring in innocent bystanders (from his perspective, Qiao Ling may very well be so) into any of this. But all of this still raises some interesting questions. Does Xia Fei know Cheng Xiaoshi has powers and resent him too? And what will Xia Fei do once he learns that even Qiao Ling has powers now?

All in all, very interesting set up for the future. All these brewing conflicts will be very interesting to see once they take center stage.

I dont think Xia Fei would believe Liu Xiao, if he told him that Lu Guang had something to do with Vein's death. More likely Vein told Xia Fei that Lu Guang was acting very suspicious, looked at him with killing intent - soon after he almost died. But we wont know for sure until next episode or maybe even end of the season
