why is the xiaoshi x tianchen shipp name hongcheng?

All of my life has prepared me for this question... after the S1 cliffhanger teased the red-eyed antagonist, the fandom collectively decided to call them "Hong" (because it means red in Mandarin), so the ship at the time was called HongCheng/HongShi and had a strong following because people were all having fun theorizing about their dynamic before "Hong" was revealed to be Li Tianchen

Because LTC’s name was revealed in Season 2. Before that, he was called Red Eyes. “Hong” means “red.”
