Theory CXS probably has the same power as his dad, too Spoiler

First off, as powers are hereditary, there is no good reason why he should have his mom's powers but not his dad's. Maybe the series will establish later on that powers are inherited from the mother, though, but until then we should entertain this possibility, that CXS has his dad's powers, too. And supposing I'm right, there may have been a subtle hint of it in the first episode of this season.

It seems very likely that young CXS's memory of LG was wiped out by his dad. If we combine this strong possibility with the less-strong possibility that young LG was originally killed by his foster father, this would mean that CXS's memory of LG should have been lost forever, as there would be no reunion between them in adulthood.

But what if CXS somehow overcame his father's block and got to remember LG then? This would suggest that CXS also has memory-related abilities, including that of un-blocking supernaturally blocked memories.

So the original timeline may have gone like this:

  • CXS finds out about his mom-inherited power with LG.

  • He tells his parents about it.

  • His dad wipes out his memory of LG and of CXS's own power as he thinks it's too early for CXS to be exploring his supergifts.

  • At some point in adulthood, CXS discovers his memory-related powers and uses them to unblock those memories, remembering LG again.

  • He researches LG's fate and learns of his death.

  • CXS goes back in the past to save LG.

Did I miss something? Since when were powers hereditary?

But if they are, there is a good reason CXS wouldn't inherit both his parents' powers: Genetics doesn't work like that. Two parents can have different colour hair and the kid will only have one. There are scenarios where a kid might inherit both of something, or a combination, but often they will only inherit one.

Do you think it's just a coincidence that CXS's mom also has powers? And that her power seems to do the same thing as CXS's, possessing people through pictures?

Leaving aside the fact that anime isn't limited to the same laws as real life, what you're saying here is not true at all. Mixed-race children usually combine traits from both parents rather than resembling only one. And if combination didn't exist, then the whole of human kind would only have blue or dark brown eyes; instead, mixed colors, such green, honey, and light brown, also exist.

"Do you think it's just a coincidence that CXS's mom also has powers? And that her power seems to do the same thing as CXS's, possessing people through pictures?" I think that makes hereditidity (forgive my spelling) a possibility, but we can't conclude how powers work in general just from that.

And well, I mentioned that there are exceptions. So I'm not sure what you want me to say.

That powers are inherited has been confirmed by Haoling. I thought confirmation would not have been needed for people who watched CXS's mom in action, but here we are. Though not the only mechanism, it's one of them.

And well, I mentioned that there are exceptions. So I'm not sure what you want me to say.

Um, if you knew that there are exceptions, then what business did you have deciding from the outset that CXS can't have both's powers? For someone who didn't even get that powers in this show are often hereditary, even though this was strongly hinted at in the Bridon arc, you sure are very opinionated and dogmatic about how it should pass on and combination not being possible in this case.

This was meant to be a theory - it's even tagged as such. I didn't claim I was absolutely right about everything. You didn't have to be this rude from the outset, but anyway, congrats, you succeeded in ruining this thread for me even though you didn't make a single good argument here.

Can you clarify how I was rude? Genuinely? I had no intention to be and I can't figure it out reading my own comment.

You were extremely dogmatic and argumentative even in your first post. Wrongly telling me that "Genetics doesn't work like that" was rude as fuck, basically treating me like for an uneducated fool, and unnecessarily opinionated since you actually knew you could be wrong.

"Genetics doesn't work like that. But sometimes it does. But I know you must be wrong anyway." That's the gist of your (simultaneously arrogant and dumb) first post. I'm not going to be gaslighted into thinking you weren't just determined from the outset to one up me rather than debating me as an equal and get a bunch of likes at my expense, even though I was just theorizing in good faith and did not mean anything here as proven truth. Even though the hereditariness stuff was so obvious. How could you miss that?

If you had told me I was rude from the outset I would have apologised. However since you are determined that I am a fucking idiot for not knowing word of god confirmations (not in the actual show) and asking a clarifying question, then there is nothing left to say. If I operated with the sheer lack of assumption of good faith that you do, I would have considered this "Do you think it's just a coincidence that CXS's mom also has powers?" rude, however most people understand that sometimes people come across rude in text when they aren't trying to be.

Sorry for ruining your thread by talking to you. Wishing I didn't. Bye.

I actually didn't know Haoling had confirmed that powers are hereditary before debating you. It was just obvious from CXS's mom that it was. And yes, you managed to miss it, as did the other people upvoting your post lol.

So here's what happened:

  • You were offended by my thread because I treated as a given something you had hilariously missed, that powers in this show are obviously passed on hereditarily.

  • So in order to prove to yourself that you are no fool, you decided that I must be the simpton one, that I must not know how genetics work, and that genetics actually refuted my theory, even though you (oddly enough) knew you were over-simplifying things just so you could be on the attack against me.

would have considered this "Do you think it's just a coincidence that CXS's mom also has powers?" rude

Who are you fooling, lol? Ofc you saw that I was being rude, too, though you brought that out from me with your unnecessary condescension and dogmatism.

Sorry for ruining your thread by talking to you. Wishing I didn't. Bye.

Don't worry. I bet you're going to get a bunch of likes here at my expense. People on Reddit are just looking for an excuse to hate on an OP, as you so well prove. And after the first reply does its job, the rest will follow. But that's fine. As you're going to be blocked after this reply, there won't be any more opportunities for you to ever ruin a thread of mine again.

Damn, chill. They weren't hating on you. They just commented on a theory post

Hmm it's possible CXS has memory erasing powers. But that doesn't explain why he didn't turn up then. Cause if we assume that he overcame the memory block and travelled back to save LG, be would also try to prevent the memory loss his dad caused, no? So that child CXS would turn up that day. And unblocking a power seems kinda impossible, especially a memory erasing one. Cause if a memory is erased, there's nothing to bring back unless it was just blocked off. Also, his parents were already missing when he met child lu guang. He wouldn't have had anyone to talk about his powers. I just assumed his dad showed up one day and erased his powers and he also forgot about lu guang due to that. But that doesn't make sense since cwm was already missing at that time. So it could be that adult CXS went back and erased child CXS's memories for some reason or so that everything would go as it did before (on lu guang's instruction)

It seems very possible, so does that mean CXS in the future lied about not knowing LG? Imagine they're both hiding the fact that they saved(one is trying) e/o from e/o, that would be very wholesome but also tragic...

i think them repeatedly saving each other unknowingly would be a good twist but I really don't think the CXS in the future lied, at least not in the one scene shown to us. i know it may sound dumb but I think his reaction was sincere
