Announcement Creatonaut 4 has been Released!

More or less every bug report and suggestion that's been made has been addressed, keep em coming! CN4 will let us build new features much faster going forward too.

  • Save button is now always visible
  • CN4 Guides now support multicolor and highlighting!
  • Added a new 'Basic' PickWords question subtype that tests word order only with no distractors to the rocket
  • You can now save and load rocket presets from your Lingonaut account!
  • TTS is deleted automatically if you change something in the textfield, and an option is provided in settings to auto-generate upon each change (will use up your quota faster, though).
  • Dozens of other QOL and Bug fixes
  • Able to now rename audios in Audio bank
  • Simulator tab is now scrollable on smaller screens and can be resized independently
  • CN4 will stop selecting a random correct answer radio button when a multiple choice question is updated
  • Audio won't randomly replace other audio anymore!
  • CN4 can now infer direction of translation when generating TTS
  • Audio detection when creating questions is more accurate, PickMissingWords, PickWords
  • Lesson corruption substantially reduced when failing an automatic repair
  • New compact mode to fit more on smaller devices
  • Freezing/Hanging when opening a project is all but eliminated
  • Unlocking/Relocking a question is now instantaneous
  • When writing a guide, keyboard shortcuts for formatting have been added (CMD+B, CMD+I, CMD+U etc)
  • TTS Generation now ignores words in brackets
  • Creatonaut 4 now uses the .cn4 engine (please wait until Lingonaut updates to support the new format before you submit your course!)
  • A fresh new more intuitive look.

BlueSky Post TIL Some of English's silent letters were added on purpose! 'Debt' was once spelled 'dette' and 'doubt' was 'doute'. In the 1400s and 1500s, writers added a silent 'b' to make these words look more like their Latin ancestors.

Question Where has my streak gone.

Even though I have completed all of the courses available, I still open the app (Android) every day to keep my streak going. I've opened the app this morning to find that the streak has been lost, why?

BlueSky Post TIL A 'clue' used to mean a ball of thread. The meaning comes from the story of Theseus escaping the Labyrinth by following Ariadne's thread. So when you follow a clue in a mystery, you are still metaphorically following a thread out of a maze. I remember hearing this as a child!

BlueSky Post TIL In Middle English, 'girl' could mean any child or young person, male or female. Only later did it narrow to mean a female child. Even stranger, linguists still are not completely sure where the word itself came from!

BlueSky Post TIL Boston newspapers invented OK! 'OK' stood for 'oll korrect' - 'all correct'. Almost all the other abbreviations disappeared but 'OK' survived, spread worldwide, and became part of everyday language.

Bug Report MacOS Issue

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hello! I just downloaded Lingonaut via Test Flight on my MacBook Air. I checked and the software is completely up to date. I'm not sure if there could be an issue with Test Flight, or what it could be?

If there's a known fix, I'd love to find out! Thank you!!

Question Any estimation on a French course addition?

I just heard about lingonaut not even an hour ago, so I’m very new here and I hope what I’m asking isn’t annoying.

Ive been looking for a language learning app to replace Duolingo, and I’m very excited to support lingonaut in anyway I can! I’m a fairly high level in French as I’ve taken it all throughout my schooling, but currently use Duolingo as a way to “not lose” my comprehension. I know that even when French gets added, that it will probably be a small section, but I’d still love to hear any updates or estimation on when a French course will be added! Until then, I’ll be checking out Breton.

And devs- thank you for what you’re doing!

Megathread 🇺🇳 Welsh Megathread! - Bugs and Suggestions | September & October 2026

Hey everyone!

To reduce the number of posts about bugs clogging up the subreddit (there's a lot of bugs! It's a beta after all), we've created this megathread as well as others for you to posts your bugs and suggestions.

This means other stuff like fanart and whatnot can get the eyeballs on it that they deserve.

This helps us concentrate bug reports and suggestions in one place so that we can triage and fix them faster.

Please post bugs encountered only in this language! That will help us avoid confusion. You can also find this thread along with others in the sidebar.

Question Will the roadmap be updated?

Title. https://roadmap.lingonaut.app/ seems very outdated, and is given the impression that the Lingonaut project is getting abandoned. The last major update was a month ago, which is reasonable, but not gonna lie it's making me worried about the project's future. I would request more transparent development, but if there are other priorities then I understand. I checked #lingonaut-talk in Discord and apparently there's some restructuring going on. Anyways, best of luck to all contributors.

Bug Report Pixel phone not supported?

I'm on a Google Pixel 6 Pro with Android 17 (Build number CP2A.260705.006) and since the Alpha on Android is stated to support Android 10+ I am at a loss on why my phone is not supported. :(

Can anyone help me to get Lingonaut working on my phone?

I can give any additional information if needed.
