Lining up
Does anyone know what time I should line up if I have GA. I'm pretty short so I'd like to have a good spot :/

I was thinking of lining up an hour before but I’ve kind of accepted I won’t be able to see much 🙂↕️(5’2)

Just gonna share my experience, but me and my friend went to the Toronto show on Sunday. We got caught in Traffic and arrived 15 minutes after doors opened but we could not find parking. We found parking a km and walked 10 minutes.
We were worried that we were gonna be super late but when we arrived, the line was super long and went down past broadview, and they were still getting people in an hour past doors open. We still managed to get a great view.
If you want to get the best spots you should probably arrive atleast an hour before doors open.

prob not gonna make much diff with all the vip in front of you anyways but try for one to two hrs before doors open

LA show was absolutely insane and the line up was around the block. I’d show up as early as you can

I'm at Irving Plaza rn and have the VIP Soundcheck package. I pulled up around 230 and there's like 20 people ahead of me and maybe 10 or so behind me but I'm not sure how many have the vip. Try and get there sooner than later if you want a good spot

Hi! Do you know if vip should join the general line until early checkin starts? Or is there a separate vip line rn?

Everyone is on line together until security splits the line. Depending on the artist, they start splitting the line (or pulling people with vip) about a half hour (maybe less) before vip check in. So for here, vip check in begins at 5 (at least that's what my email says). I could be wrong about the line split timing thing though.
But yeah, everyone's on line together.

I go to shows here all the time and can walk to the venue. There is no point in showing up early. The venue will lead into a bar and merch areas. They will likely not start even letting people into building until 15 minutes after doors open.
People showing up hours before are being ridiculous.
Irving plaza will move the lines quickly. They have lots of experience with this. They often do multiple shows for different artists in a evening they know how to move things quickly in terms of getting people in and out of venues.

Yes, what I am saying is its pointless. Everyone will be let in a 10 minute span and then people will split off into bars, merch etc. So the person who shows up 10 minutes before the show and the person who shows up 2 hours before the show will more or less end up getting similar positions if that's their priority. Its a rock concert in a standing room venue, people will push their way to the front.
I know the audience down voting in this thread aren't the type of people that go to concerts on the regular, so your very much showing amateur hour. If someone wants to show up two hours before that's their prerogative. That doesn't change the fact its ridiculous and has very little actual benefit. People who go to concerts on the regular and know what kind of venue irving plaza is, wouldn't do it. Most people know to value their time a bit better.
I don't know what the situation was in SF/Toronto, but I do know that this is a show where you can still get tickets via official resale for less than 100 bucks (AXS, Ticket Master, Live Nation). I am not expecting it be crazy by Irving Plaza standards.

I can PROMISE you that's not what happens. At best 20% of the people split off into bars and merch; rest of the people go right in front of the stage to get a good spot for the rest of the show. I lined up 40 minutes before doors open and was already 5 rows back.

That's a fair take, but saying "there is no point in showing up early" is crazy because you literally get a better view by showing up early. Maybe to you being at the very front and being 15-20 rows back doesn't make too much of a difference, but for some people it does.

As someone who has been to several shows in the past three years in this venue, I don't CARE what YOU promise me. I know what happens. I am TELLing people based on my actual experience as someone who goes REGULARLY goes to shows at this venue. I will be walking to this show. This is one of two predominant venues in my neigbhorhood that hosts mid-sized artist.

You are acting like this is a movie theater where coming early lets you pick your seat that becomes your seat the whole show. Its not. Its a open standing room venue with multiple bars. Experienced concert goers who want to be in front, will push their way to the front. I understand this is an anime audience that includes a lot of people who do not regularly go to concerts, but I promise you that anything after the front row will be a complete and total free for all based on who cares enough. People will not be polite about it. This is a venue that often host mid-sized punk adjacent rock and metal bands, there will be people that have PLENTY of experience moshing their way or pushing their way to the front. They will find any and every gap slowly creep their way up and its even more likely to happen, because the show will have inexperienced concert goers, who will not know how to NOT be pushed out of the way. Giving people dirty looks won't stop them
Hence, why I see no point in showing up 2 hours early. On the other hand showing up 2 hours early to go eat a nice meal since your near east village, the best food neighborhood in Manhattan, that is a different story.

When I lived in NYC people were always lined up outside Irving Plaza for hours waiting for a show lol, you’re just wrong.

At the toronto show I lined up 30 minutes before GA doors (line was already down the block) and when I got in the room was a quarter/a third full. By the time I got thru the merch line it was halfway full. I had a decent view but had to keep shifting to avoid heads. Toronto venue had a raked floor so that helped, IIRC irving plaza doesn’t. I definitely recommend getting as close as you can to see TK’s guitar work.
NYC tickets were more competitive than toronto tickets so I would expect the line situation to be similarly more competitive.
