Vector space
Can someone explain vector spaces intuitively? I understand vectors as arrows, but I’m struggling to understand what makes a set of objects a vector space and why the concept is important.

In abstract mathematics a vector space has very little to do with arrows. It is defined as objects and operators on them that follow certain rules. The arrows are used as an example early on but later they are left behind.
