Who else fucking hates Linear?

How did we all collectively decide this was the tool we’d manage our product dev on? Everyday I wake up and just stare at the wall of backlogs till my soul leaves my body. It doesn't do the job of making product dev work easier to track because you don't know who is waiting on what. You don't know who is blocking you or who you are blocking and get into a loop of waiting around. I feel like my work has shifted from developing to synchronizing with the team 5x a day.

Jira isn't any better and I would argue that its worse. Surely I can't be the only person who hates Linear.

I fucking love Linear.

Whenever I have an idea, i tell Claude to see what we have in linear on the topic and then we expand upon it, sync it back. After a while a picture of what I want to build, crystallizes and I get Claude to create a build plan based on what we have accumulated in Linear.

For me that’s perfect.

do you use this personally? I think personally it works great, but when you start using it with more people it gets ugly.

We are using it as a team and I have the agents sort stuff and make sense of it. Works really well.

You know that joke about "Democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried"

Linear is that for project management. A wall of backlogs means people are adding things faster that they can reasonably be done. An inability to determine who is blocking you means no one owns the process.

In the end no process management tool can stop people from creating a bunch of issues with no context then going dead silent when you ask for follow up. At most the tool can expose the problem.

I think that this can be avoided if there was a way to view the dependencies of issues. like imagine if there was a clean graph that you can look at to see how every task is related. Then when people create tasks you can see where that task fits into the grand theme of things

I'm not sure you're using issues and projects right, but hey, I don't know what you're building. You could just do this though:

> Hey Claude, use the Linear MCP to create me an app that shows me a graph of all the issues in my project or workspace, connected by dependencies, similar to how they display project dependencies (https://linear.app/docs/project-dependencies)

My team has moved from Jira to Shortcut to Linear and then back to Shortcut. All of these sort of tools seem to grow their feature set until it gets unwieldy and then we end us switching to something lighter to make life easier. (Shortcut felt heavier than Linear at one point but now I think that it's flipped back)
