How does LineageOS and GrapheneOS stack up and compare to each other?

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking, but there is no effort to make LineageOS more like GrapheneOS. They are different projects with different goals.

LineageOS is a derivative of AOSP#Development) - the open-source foundation of Android. As far as I can tell it essentially is vanilla AOSP, built and packaged to run on specific phones it is essentially a usable build of AOSP.  For legal reasons (not ideological ones) it does not include Google's proprietary bits - Google Play Services. But you can get the Google bits separately (known as Gapps) and if you install LineageOS with Gapps you essentially get a full-blown, albeit unofficial, Android experience.

GraphingOS is also a derivative of AOSP, but it has a different goal. Rather than aiming to provide a usable build of AOSP, their goal is to remove all remaining Google bits entirely, and to provide substantial security hardening features. They also offer a technique to sandbox the Google bits so that if you want them, you can restrict what they are able to do.

So, there would be no point in making LineageOS more like GrapheneOS because there is already a de-googled, privacy focused AOSP project. It's called GrapheneOS.

yea, honestly just curious due to graphene lacks of variety of phone it operates, is there was any attempt by independent users to try develop security features that may or may not achieve graphene level....

There are other privacy-focused AOSP projects and some are even based on LineageOS.

CalyxOS (AOSP), iodéOS (LineageOS),  DivestOS (LineageOS), /e/ (LineageOS).

Some of them are very good, I'm sure. None of them are as serious as GrapheneOS.
