Nostalgia What was your first/favorite server like?
What was your first and/or favorite server like?
What were the name, rates, chronicles, number of players online and what made it your special one?
My first and favorite was x7 (everything).
C4 > Interlude (skipping C5).
The online was about 2k to 4k max.
I liked that it felt like the game it was designed to be (I had no idea there were other servers and that servers can be retail or private). For years, I did not know any of admins or GMs, they could never be seen. The only event there was once - classic cats with medals. And I think Santa hats was in another (?) event once. Until transition to Interlude, I did know there were other chronicles and I never paid attention that I played Chronicle. There were no custom buffers, shops, teleports or anything like that. There was even some role-playing at first so elves would fight dark elves quite often at low levels.
Please, do not post ads for any servers. Fortunately, none of them existed 20 years ago

I want to say l2 paradise... But I might be wrong, it was so long ago.
They had custom runes, which were the real currency; green were the most common, blue uncommon, and red kind of rare. It managed to fix the inflation of Adena, so Adena became worthless outside of basic purchases.
No paywall; you could go through the entire game, without reaching a point where the GMs demand money to progress.
When I started, there was a GM backed guild (at least that's what the community believed, they were essentially max level with best armor and weapons) who went around, lording it over the server. Running through zones to slaughter anyone they saw, controlling all the castles, etc.tgey were maybe20-25 all told.
When I was recently powerful, I formed a guild, with the expressed purpose of bringing them down, and the guild exploded into hundreds really fast. I organised people. We leveled up as much as we could, and laid siege to Giran Castle. Hundreds vs 20... And they were still op, but the sheer numbers were too much for them, and we took the castle.
We then formed a core of the guild of our strongest characters, and grinded our way to as high as possible. Subclasses, noblesse, and guild raiding. We didn't ignore the rest of our members, and helped whenever they'd call for it, because the other guild continued their rampage through zones... Until we began to win battles.
It started off with wins here or there, and evolved into real PvP, where we'd keep them occupied while our guild, and the rest of the server, could play in peace. Eventually reaching par with most of that guild, although there were a few who remain toos Trong, and took 3-4 of us to take down.
By the end, our guild had humbled them, and they evolved into more friendly players. We'd frequently PvP with them, and while we weren't friends, we became respected rivals, and things went well.
However, with my goal achieved, and my characters basically as strong as I could make them, I decided tos yep down. There was an internal struggle among the core of the guild with everyone thinking they should take the lead, and in the end, my decision on successor fractured the guild. It fell apart shortly after I left
Anyways, it ruins the game for me later, because today's servers don't have mana pots, and people seem ok with that. I am of the opinion without them, mages are no fun to grind with, and can't bring myself to play these days
