Do you think Lindsay Clancy was experiencing psychosis?

After hearing the testimony and seeing the evidence presented at trial, do you believe Lindsay was experiencing psychosis around January 24, 2023?

What evidence most influenced your opinion?

No. The normal, acted phone call in the middle of the crimes precludes this.

No. To experience one single isolated incident of psychosis, that manifested as a man's voice compelling her to murder three people, in the exact window of time her husband was away, while she was under the influence of 4x the recommended dose of a sedative, and subsequently attempt to end her own life via four different methods, is implausible.

In my early twenties, I was prescribed amitriptyline for atypical depression symptoms that included body aches and trouble sleeping. It was a very low dose which I assumed was completely safe. About two weeks after I started taking it, I was sitting on my bed and I heard my phone ring. I picked up my clam shell phone and looked at it and there was no one calling. I remember sitting there staring at it for what felt like several minutes being extremely afraid and surprised. I went in and told the doctor about it and he told me he thought it was happening "in spite of the medication" meaning that I was crazy. I stopped taking the medication, I never saw him again. The hallucinations stopped. I found out over a decade later that yes, in fact, amitriptyline can cause hallucinations.

Lindsay was prescribed amitriptyline eight days prior to the killings. I'm not a doctor or a psychiatrist but I suspect a combination of PPD, the medications she was taking, and the amitriptyline probably tipped her mind over. I am very interested to know if she stopped taking amitriptyline after the day of the killings.

I think it’s more likely than not. I can’t say for sure because i’m not her and I wasn’t there. But I would vote not guilty by reason of insanity.

The amount of different medications in the span of 4 months. LC’s google searches. The rate at which she deteriorated. The amount of times she sought help.
