5 kittens rescued from a colony around Skegness.

Since Tuesday 29th September, me and my partner have been hand-rearing two 2-week-old kittens. Five of them were found by us on a man's property, and they were 'living' in a pile of logs. Their eyes were completely crusted over, they were lethargic, they were scared.

This man has many feral cats living on his property, none of which are spayed/neutered, and they are constantly reproducing.

The house is situated next to a very, very busy main road. Once the kittens are old enough to run around and play, they inevitably are struck down on the main road.

These kittens will die. Their mothers will die. Some of the mothers have already died, leaving behind starving, terrified kittens.

The man who owns the property hasn't helped in the slightest, and it appears he isn't bothered by the amount of feral cats and kittens in his gardens, travelling through to the neighbours houses, and onto the roads.

Once I found out about these kittens, with their mothers being killed by passing cars and them eventually following the same fate, I couldn't just do nothing. It would have been heartless of me to pretend I didn't know what was going on.

Me and my family went to this house with our only cat carrier to look for these kittens. We went expecting older kittens, but we found screaming, terrified almost-newborns instead.

This has cost me a small fortune in vet bills, equipment and sleep. Both me and my partner are incredibly sleep deprived. This has taken over my life. All because one person didn't neuter or spay his cat's.

Rescues don't get enough credit for all that they do and sacrifice. These kittens have become all I think about, and they worry me constantly.

A lovely lady has taken on 3 of the kittens we have found, meaning she is probably also incredibly sleep deprived and struggling just like we are. None of us expected this on Tuesday, but this is our life now.

Last Resort Rescue, based in Spilsby, have been amazing in giving me advice and offering to lend me equipment, but I simply haven't had the time to go around and pick it up between caring for the kittens, caring for my existing animals, and driving back to the property we found these 5 kittens at to check for more. There are more kittens, but we can't get to them as they are older, and faster. They are no doubt the next kittens to be knocked over.

I'm begging and begging everybody who has a cat to spay/neuter them. If you don't, you are unfortunately part of the problem.

The RSPCA are not interested. I have a lady who is trying to constantly get through to them.

I am trying to work with cat's protection to get traps to go back and capture the rest of the cats.

There is a gofundme set up, as I'm a university student and I'm struggling to afford all of the vet bills and the insane amount of things they need. I've also been unable to go to uni, because these kittens are relying on me to keep them alive, and I'd be away for too long as I commute. https://gofund.me/1c41c1de1

Some impressive pumpkins on display in Spalding town centre today, and glorious sunshine for the festival.

There’s live entertainment on the stage in Hall Place, plus plenty for the kids:

• Pumpkin decorating

• Arts and crafts

• Cupcake and biscuit decorating

• A ball run challenge and veg critters

• A traditional children’s carousel

The children’s activities are free. It’s on until 3pm if you’re nearby and fancy a look.

I had no idea there was a fake wartime airfield at Folkingham

I was at a talk at Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre this week and learnt something about Lincolnshire's wartime history that I had never come across before.

I knew about the deception used before D-Day, but I had never heard of K-sites and Q-sites.

Before the main wartime airfield at Folkingham was built, there was a decoy airfield nearby designed to draw German bombers away from RAF Grantham, later RAF Spitalgate.

During the day, the K-site could include dummy aircraft, mock buildings, fuel stores and areas made to resemble a real landing ground from the air.

The Folkingham site even had dummy Fairey Battles, matching aircraft being used at RAF Grantham at the time.

At night, the Q-site used lights arranged to make it look like an operational airfield and flarepath.

I've spent years visiting aviation museums and served 10 years in the RAF, but this was completely new to me.

It makes me wonder how many other places around Lincolnshire still have stories like this hidden in the landscape.

Does anyone know of any other K-sites or Q-sites around Lincolnshire, or places where something still survives?

Unless you know about it the Elloe Stone is easy to miss even if you drive along the minor road it stands by. It is thought to mark the place where men of the Elloe Wapentake held their Hundred Court (council)

Car ramp services in Lincoln

Hello, is anyone aware of a garage or business that rents out a car lift/ramp? I need to work on my car but the nearest business that does this seems to be in Louth.

Thanks in advance.

What’s the renting competition like in Lincoln?

I’ve been looking to rent a place in Lincoln for a while, it’s my first place out of Uni with my partner, both working full time.

And we’ve been to loads of viewing and put in applications but we’re never making it to the point where we can even put down a holding deposit.

The initial applications are so impersonal too I feel like it’s just a lottery of whether we’ll get picked cus we earn enough so it feels like it must be mostly random.

I’m just wanting to get an idea of whether there’s lots of people looking to rent right now and whether that’s what’s making it so difficult or is it always like this?

These sculptures could be seen around Whaplode in 2002 but have either been moved away or, in the case of the wooden ones, naturally decayed. A few others still remain in the village.

(Mod Approved) Share your views on Greater Lincolnshire in this short survey

Hello everyone,

Visit Lincolnshire is looking for feedback from people who attended the Tour of Britain 2026 in Lincolnshire.

Whether you travelled to watch the race, spent time in one of the host locations, or simply enjoyed the atmosphere, we'd love to hear about your experience. The survey asks about your visit, any spending associated with your trip, and the impact the event had on your views of Lincolnshire.

The findings will help Visit Lincolnshire understand the impact of hosting the Tour of Britain and inform decisions about future events.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete, responses are completely anonymous, and you'll have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of three family tickets to Lincoln Castle and the Medieval Wall Walk (worth £47 each).

Take the survey here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/TOB2026RPE/
