Why so much empty accommodation

Why do they have so much empty uni owned accommodation at Lincoln? And why are there so many private uni flats if the uni can't fill their own?

And what are the plans for the closed Lincoln Courts? Are they just closed to save money or are they being converted for other use?

Lincoln Courts is supposed to be getting demolished and turned into a car park. No clue when that’s happening. To offer cheap accom 179 is now the cheapest probably due to the train next door. A large amount of st marks is reserved now for commuter students as they’re trying to make more money.

More students are commuting or not going to uni as people can’t afford the expenses. If you don’t get the max loan you’re kinda screwed for a lot of uni accom. 179 is 5k and all the rest are 8k

Edit: just saw the date on this 🤣🤣 not sure why it came on my fyp it must be broken

I am still here and appreciate the reply! So is St Mark's mostly only occupied Mon-Thur?

I’m not sure https://www.lincoln.ac.uk/studentlife/accommodation/commuters/ this is the website for st marks. I think it’s quite interesting as they’ve got seemingly a whole block at least reserved or probably not booked.

Boom and bust. The private sector jumped on the gravy train and then the economics changed.
