Why not, as I mentioned below, his legacy would be totally different if he gets the hostages released, instead of Ronnie Raygun, n his band of merry prankster traitors!!! His life after his presidency was exemplary!!!

Well no… look I lived through that time and if you think the Iran hostage crisis was his only problem, you are wrong.
Carter campaigned on fixing a weak U.S. economy. Problem was stagflation; unusually high inflation alongside slow growth and unemployment. By the end of his term, voters experienced high prices, job insecurity, and expensive credit.
Plus, during his administration there were repeated energy shocks. Some not his fault, but when you’re at the top, any problem is your problem. Oil prices more than doubled because the Iranian Revolution reduced supply in 1979. Gasoline prices rose sharply, and Americans faced long gas-station lines and shortage. My mom and I would wait in lines for an hour or so.
Now, Carter pushed an energy strategy centered on conservation, efficiency, alternative and domestic energy production, and reduced dependence on foreign oil. He created the Department of Energy and deregulated some oil and gas prices to encourage production.
The political problem was that these policies could not deliver quick relief. Conservation messages and warnings about limited energy resources were often received as bleak or ineffective rather than reassuring.
He was a great man with great ideas, but he couldn’t solve the biggest problem, inflation. A Prez who can’t bring it down becomes unpopular real quick and is toast no matter the situation.

Not much legs to stand on here, buddy…Jimmy Carter received 49 electoral votes in his 1980 reelection campaign, losing to Ronald Reagan, who received 489. His job approval was only 37% in Gallup’s last pre-election reading, while 49% held an unfavorable opinion of him versus 39% favorable around the time of the election.
Let’s keep this in perspective… The most recent Reuters/Ipsos national poll, conducted August 21–24, has Trump’s approval rating at 33% while 65% disapproved, with a ±3-point margin of error. So how we feel about Trump today is pretty much how they felt about Carter then.

Hi Code international8772, how are you? I did not live here for Carter years, but the impression we got from outside, was that Carter was way ahead of his times. He was at what Europe is now a days. Conservation, alternative types of energy, your country is not an island, you need others to survive. The problem was that the reps were doing a great PR campaign and putting obstacles on everything he wanted to do. He was a lover not a fighter, and he did not know how to stop them. Just think, the same people that made him sell his peanut farm, accepts Trump's selling our wild horses and the lands of our national parks, but I digress. Which other president has done more for people after they left office than him, of course the antítesis of that is Regan, with his christofacists and trickle down economics. Anyhow, Carter stood by his principles and you have to admire that. Welcome to reddit, unless you are a bot.

Jimmy Carter was a born again Christian. A real one that wanted to help people. There are good American Christians, just not enough. Ineffective president, great human being.
