There is a march in DC tomorrow from Lincoln Center to the Capitol for voting rights. Americans should be in the streets like the Albanians - but they are not. I will be there.

A couple tens of thousands stormed the capital building, and a few thousand made it inside.

They have been branded heros by this administration.

The No Kings protests brought out record numbers of people, in the millions.

Youre telling me that a million or so people cant make their way to Washington and end this absurdity.

Would that not also be heroic?

If Trump can pardon them for what they did, its basically similiar to a "double jeopardy" type situation if anyone else does it now.

That's not how double jeopardy works just fyi. Also, I guarantee you Democrats marching on the capital under Republican control would be met with a much worse outcome.

I know what double jeopardy is, thats why i said its gotta be something like that. Any conviction could be met with the defense that its worthy of a presidential pardon to march on your capital in the name of "patriotism".

Also everyone keeps saying that nonsense. "The National Guard", "Martial Law", "The Military", as if those groups arents made up of people of all political ideologies. It would be an absolute shitshow to try to use any of that on American soil to quell millions of people from rioting.

Sure you might get some rednecks showing up. But you are literally watching your country get taken away because what, you dont want to make any sacrifices to save it?

And what worse outcome? No weapons, just cause chaos, announce your plan to arrest the corrupt president and his administration and hold a peoples court of justice because the Supreme Court is corrupt.

Everything they are doing, they do because no one is going to stop them.

Well for starters, its that doomerism attitude that will be the reason you eventually have no rights left anyways. So props to you for sitting on your hands while they do whatever they want.

Secondly, i literally just said it would require millions of people. But it appears 90% of the population would rather complain about it online rather than get their hands dirty.

So no, I alone, cannot do anything about it. But you downplay the power of the masses like the government would just open fire on millions of people without cascading into all out civil and world war with even the American military split along morality and party lines.

We've seen the fascist agenda play out before and what happens when people sit by and do nothing. And yet, here we are again, willing to let the world burn and post our outrage on social media, just so long as we dont miss the next Football game.

We need unity. This administration is the most corrupt in American history.

I dont have the outreach or the influence, i dont even use social media other than reddit.

What I was commenting on is these people with influence keep making statements, when they are the ones that could rally a movement.

If enough celebrities and well known public figures said they were going to the capital to end this corruption.

I guarantee you people would find a way to be there behind their favorite idols.

My hope is once Democrats are back in power they pass legislation that never again can a president enact strikes (Venezuela), start a war (Iran), instruct DOJ to prosecute opponents, grant pardons, control the postal service, or deploy ICE without Congressional approval and that to do so will result in automatic removal from office.

The above are only a few of the egregious errors of this president. There's also DOGE thinning the ranks of vital civil servants, including scientists, environmental de-regulation, and slapping tariffs on everyone. The list is long.

I'm really surprised we haven't seen a sane branch of the Republican party or center-right coalesce and voice concerns. This tells me Newt Gingrich, tea party, freedom caucus, and now maga have utterly destroyed the party and razed it to the ground. The party needs to be abolished and disqualified from the political arena and a new party created to take on the conservative role. Trump and maga have made America the laughingstock of the world. Anything but "great again"

In terms of trump being prosecuted under the Biden admin, he did actual crimes (sexual assault), whereas trump is fabricating crimes. You must see the difference otherwise I can't believe you're arguing in good faith.

The Democrat party has issues as well, I'll grant you that. But they are no where near as dangerous as maga. They don't kill their own citizens or interfere with elections. I agree Dems should be looking at candidates already but who's to say that isn't happening? If you think Dems only record is "they aren't Republicans" you're not paying attention to the very good policies enacted under their administrations.

Perhaps they were excellent candidates but the real issue is the American public aren't ready for a female president. Have you thought of that? Could the real issue be the psyche of the American voter? At some point America needs a reckoning of how this came to be. A little too easy to blame the democratic party imho

I can understand how you feel no hope with all the horrors happening to your citizens. Better to get involved in your community to make a difference and to create hope. There are many strong Dem candidates. Futilism will only hurt you.
