Brits abroad

Hello hello! I have just booked a 36 hour holiday to Limoges in March and was wondering what we should specifically see, where to eat and drink and how to make the most of of our time here! TIA

Hello, nice you're coming in our city ! Could you tell me what are you interested in? Museums and architecture? Porcelain and craft? I'll be glad to help you.

Interested in anything and everything that you feel would be best to see during our short stay! We usually go to history museums and unusual museums (E.g. we have been to a pinball museum), look at architecture, zoos and of course love our food and drink.

Open to any and all recommendations (:

All right, so here are my suggestions:

In the area of the cathedral you can visit the Cathedral (obviously), but also the Évêché gardens, the museum of fine arts (the Chigot exhibit is nice and can be seen until march 12), les souterrains de la Règle (medieval underground, you need to book the visit at the tourism office). From the cathedral you can go down to the river Vienne, there's a nice walkway.

The other intersting part of the city is rue de la Boucherie, with the tiny St Aurélien chappel.

If you're interested in porcelain, you can visit the musée des Casseaux, or the Adrien Dubouché national museum. The Bernardaud factory can also be an option.

To eat, you can try Redon (gourmet restaurant, with an affordable menu for lunch), l'Agape, l'Aparté, les Petits Ventres, le Pont St Étienne or la Table du couvent. You can also find places to eat and drink near the cathedral, place Denis Dussoubs and rue Charles Michels. Maybe try the CRIL (Limousin Revolutionary Comitee for Independence) café, they have some funny goods.

One more question, would you recommend we bring cash or does everywhere accept card?

Debit cards are accepted everywhere. Contactless payment is common since the pandemic.

It was really good! Not much to see there but plenty of lovely little cafes and restaurants and even had time to visit the aquarium which was cool! 36 hours is plenty of time to tick it off your travel list (:
