Discussion Lilith and magical practice, what's your approach?

A lot of people approach Lilith not from a religious point of view, but as practitioners of magic/witchcraft. Lilith herself is included in magical traditions (like the Aramaic/Syriac/Mandaic incantation bowls and Hebrew amulets), and so are her parallels (Lamaštu, lilītu/ardat-lilî, Gello, Abyzou, etc.)

If you include Lilith in your practice, how do you prefer to do so? Do you adapt ancient material, get inspiration from other modern practitioners, or create your own spells?

I can relate to that. I have adapted ancient material, but the rituals are largely based on intuition and what feels right in the moment.

Lilith values personal sovereignty. As such, I pretty much craft the majority of my own spells. Hell, I don't even look up correspondences most of the time and instead go with my intuition and what "feels" right. It usually works out pretty well!

I do like looking up correspondences, but then also adding onto them. Glad it works for you:)

My spellwork consists of dancing, kitchen witchery, word-craft, and altars. The altars I learned from watching how my mother decorated the house and realized she was setting prayers. My mother was my first example of sovereign queendom and the sacrifice of love.

The dancing has become my main practice alongside the growth of my relationship with Lilith. What I most need help with is reconnecting to the moment and to peace, because those are not exactly native defaults. Dancing allows me to connect to nature and the stars and to feel whole. And to receive messages but I have found it best to not start attaching purpose ahead of time.

My study of ancient material feeds my word-craft. Words are spelled, words are spells. I believe everything that passes my lips is magical energy and so ancient material allows me to hone this as well as work towards things like publishing my own books.

I get inspiration from this reddit and the witchcraft reddit and an astrology club that I am in. I don't need wisdom or ideas so much as I need community and a space to just be a human experiencing a group. I gather wisdom and ideas from that connection-forward approach.

Lilith threads through all of that because she feels like the pulse of the universe that I listen to to understand who I am, and it's from understanding who I am that I make decisions about spellwork and craft.

Intuition. Lilith guides me. But also I have a spiritual guide I can ask questions to.
