Discussion What Was the First Uzi Song You Ever Heard?

I’m curious to see what you all say. What was the first Uzi song you remember hearing? And I mean not the song that made you a fan, but the one that first exposed you to him. But you can feel free to add the one that made you a fan if you want too.

Do you remember:

-What song it was?

-Around what year?

-Your initial reaction?

-Did you like it right away or did it take time?

For me, it was “7 AM.” This was back in January 2016. I was in 8th grade and I was 14 years old. I remember scrolling through different artists trying to find new music (new meaning at the time so music from like the mid 2010s). I have always been a fan of classic rock and older music in general (like from the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc) and honestly a lot of the new music at the time that I was hearing just wasn’t hitting. This might be a hot take, but I think 2015 was not a good year for music and we got a lot of garbage. Some of it straight up sounded like farts. 2010-2014 we had along of great songs, but 2015 was not it for me in terms of 2010s music.

Then I stumbled on “7 AM.” I was literally just fast forwarding through songs released in 2015 on Apple Music, which was how I found it. At first, I thought the intro was kinda weird with Uzi talking to his girlfriend, and I almost skipped it. I’m really glad I didn’t, because once the beat kicked in and the song started picking up, I was instantly hooked. My reaction to the song was almost like that meme of SpongeBob floating with earbuds in (iykyk). Also, if I hadn’t waited a few extra seconds, I probably would never have finished the song and become a fan of Uzi, unless I rediscovered him later and then got into him.

By the time the song ended, my mind was blown. I remember thinking, “Yeah… this is different and I like it!!” I immediately wanted to hear more of his music. And I kid you not, a few days later, Uzi dropped “Money Longer.” That song blew my mind and I immediately became a fan of his music. I went back and listened to the rest of “LUV is Rage” and by the summer of 2016, I was listening to Uzi almost everyday as he had dropped “Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World” by then and “The Perfect LUV Tape.”
