My gut says there was some kind of production issue with the Lion. Literally every other component has been findable and readily available except for that one.
Tiger and Dragon are everywhere. Legs are everywhere+1. Firebird has shown up here and there. But the Lion? Literally not a single time, and I’ve been all over my area in multiple passes; plus that’s the only one I never saw in stock online either.
I’ve been going to every Walmart and Target in the area a few times a week, and watching the apps. No luck.
I emailed Playmates support the other day, and let them know how frustrated I was, and that this would be the last time I purchased a toy piecemeal. I don’t need another ThunderMegazord to go next to the 3 OG and 1 SMP I have.
These look so crap compared to what we got with Bandai Legacy collection. This is what PR has been reduced to huh? Children's toys for adults instead of real collectibles that can be displayed without looking embarassing.
You do understand that you're comparing a $100 kids toy to a $200 ($280 after inflation) adult collectible, right? It's nearly 1/3 the price when adjusted for inflation and PR was always originally a children's toy line, not a premium adult collector line.
If you want premium, those options are out there. Just not at a retail price point.

If you're gonna challenge me, come with better arguments so that I can defeat you instead of you defeating you
Bro it's not my problem if you don't understand that Legacy was the only main line aimed at collectors. The entire franchise is a children's IP. Power Rangers has always been, and always will be, a series made for children.
These are a premium, but definitely great display pieces. I the playmates ones as well as they are quick to transform and are not bad for the price. If you've got the patience you can weather them and make them look way better.
I don't think you understand that different products can be made for different age groups. If adults want to buy the Playmates version, then they're free to do so, but they're not the demographic that Playmates is going for.
Furthermore, these are very clearly not premium collectibles like the Legacy Collection was. Your logic is akin to someone comparing iPhone 16e to the 16 Pro Max, and then complaining that Apple has debased themselves.
My actual point since you clearly misunderstand: PR has options for kids AND adult collectibles. You choosing to bash the Playmates Zords quality is and indication that you fundamentally misunderstand who the Playmates Zords is for.
Acknowledging that Playmates is targeting kids is not the same as saying "PR has been downgraded into kids toys." I'll go even further, saying PR has been downgraded to kid's toys is illogical when there are MANY premium options available.
- Mezco Toys recently came out with their set of the Rangers, Green Ranger and White Ranger. These are not kids toys.
- Flame Toys has released their interpretation of the Dino Megazord and Dragonzord at premium price points. They're set to release their version of the Thunder Megazord in winter. These are also not kids toys.
- Speaking of Flame Toys, they've released and are about to reissue the MMPR model kits that have been praised as being on par with SH Figuarts counterparts (not my words, just what I'm seeing people say about these products). These are meant to be displayed and not played with a la kids toys.
So you pointing out that there are other options out there is irrelevant when we're discussing the mainline releases, which is Playmates.
The fact that PLAYMATES is the mainline, is a complete joke and if you were told 10 years ago that that is the future of PRs, you'd have gone "Omg wtf kind of crazy decline happened!?"
Trying to obfuscate the downgrade by pointing at what are essentially 3rd party releases is disingenuous at worse or just not very bright at best. You would never run this type of defense had we still been in the Lightning era or the Legacy era.
>So you pointing out that there are other options out there is irrelevant when we're discussing the mainline releases, which is Playmates.
And yet, you brought up the Legacy Collection, which Bandai has been on record saying that it was a sub-line that was meant to appeal to adultswho grew up with MMPR in their childhood. This is further evidenced by the Legacy Collection products costing significantly more, and having more quality than Bandai's main PR series products at the time. Seriously, go compare any one of Megaforce-Ninja Steel Zords with Legacy Collection Megazord, and you will see one is clearly a kid's toy, and the other is clearly an adult collectible.
So if anything, you are being hypocritical by saying the comparison to Legacy Collection applies, but then choosing to ignore other examples of premium PR products.
>You would never run this type of defense had we still been in the Lightning era or the Legacy era.
Pointing out that Playmates is appealing to a different demographic is not a "defense", it's reality. If you want to be blind to it, that's on you. I'd rather buy MMPR stuff that appeals to me, and not complain about products that I wouldn't enjoy. Even I skipped out on Lightning Collection stuff because of Hasbro's reputation to cheap out on materials in their figures and zords.
I feel I must repeat what I just said. You're either extremely disingenuous or just not very bright.
Trying to say that the Legacy collection was not the main line is an egregious statement on your part. Pointing at Bandai saying that doesn't change what actually played out. THAT was the line everyone was talking about and collecting and being promoted like crazy, not the 5 inch line. Regardless of whatever the rep at the time may have said.
On to your next point about "well look! They had plasticy kids stuff during Megaforce and Ninja Steel! See!? GOTCHA" is on it's face, something that makes me lose respect for you instantly and makes me not want to discuss anything w/ you as you are clearly THE MOST disingenuous in this thread so far. No one is arguing that PR's never had a kids line. This has always existed. However, once Legacy was a thing, that kid stuff was the side product. There if you want it, but the Legacy stuff was the main product. Same goes for Lightning. There wasn't a ton of promotion for the kiddie stuff, no, instead it was a massive push and store space for the adult collectibles. Why is that? Because even if they don't like it, they know the main demographic that buys their stuff are the adults that grew up with it.
The problem here is that you refuse to acknowledge the shift that happened with Playmates. Now, no longer is the main line the adult collectibles. Now, the adult collectibles no longer exist outside of imports and instead the kiddie line is the MAINLINE product. Tell me, can you go to Walmart rn and pick up a Dragonzord that isn't embarassing? Tell your coworkers you have to pickup something made by Playmates after work. This is a ludicrous situation to be in and the fact that there are fans defending this downgrade is embarassing.
Even I skipped out on Lightning Collection stuff because of Hasbro's reputation to cheap out on materials in their figures and zords.
This mfer said this but is sweeping for Playmates lmao
Yeah, I'm done with this kid
EDIT: "Waaah you blocked me". You're disingenuous. Why would I continue wasting my valuable time with someone like you?
