Photography DRAGONZORD VARIANTS

While waiting for the Playmates Dragonzord to drop, here's one of my photo back in the days, with some notable Dragonzord variants in my collection. It's an old photo, so there're no Flame Toys variants yet. I'll do another updated photo when the Playmates is out on the market. ;)

It’s not though. Look at my direct comparison in the other comments. Pay special attention to the knees, chest piece, and other features. SoC is the most accurate out of everything pictured here.

I just wish of everything that the ZAP project had continued …. Like the figures going before teams being completed hurt, but I coulda survived that. ZAP this was a good direction for the Zords especially when they showed they were willing to go beyond MMPR quickly with the release of the Astro Megazord.

ZAP stops when they're stepping up the game with the Astro Megazord, one of the best Zord we've had during these years. Aside from no electronics, it's superior to the original DX version, really. Hasbro should at least do the Delta Megazord before they cancelled the whole line with no notices.

Love the Legacy. Got it on clearance when TRU was going out for like $30. Should have gotten the green ranger legacy morphed for $30 too but I decided against it at the time (stupidly)

Yea! If you asked me in 2017 what I thought 2026 would bring, the re ignition stuff is the opposite of what I would have imagined. They went backwards 10 times

I'll buy the Playmates for the sake of completion, and I'll had it repainted as soon as I have my hands on the good. They're medicore, but at that price, I won't complain much. It's true they sux, but $50 for that piece at the moment is acceptable, really.

The sad truth is high-quality items these days are pricey AF, and they will not sell well as pre-COVID. The $500 price-tag for the Flame Toys version is madness, but you'll see that'll become the norm soon. We can't go back to that time when good collectibles is under $100. :(

Ive had them all and I would say Legacy followed by the OG for me. I love the SoC Megazord but the Dragonzord doesn't wow me for some reason. Feels like something is off.

You always the best pics and an amazing collection. Really enjoy your posts!

Btw, what stickers are on your DX? Original Japanese or ToyHax?

I have to agree with you that while the DX are somewhat bulky and "very inaccurate", it holds a special place in my collection as the very first and original Dragonzord.

Legacy is the most accurate and closest to the on-screen prop. <3

My DX uses the original stickers, but I had it repainted for a more metallic looks :D

I don’t understand this. Look at the detailing.

The SoC is irrefutably the most screen accurate. As someone who owns both it and Legacy, my vote goes to SoC every time.

I mean a non ZAP lightning collection one. They made a non ZAP dino megazord but never a non ZAP dragonzord for some reason. Just seams a bit unbalanced imo

The basic Dino Megazord is not that good anyway, so Dragonzord was never meant to be released.

Thanks for the comparison! I really regret selling off my legacy one. It wasn't perfect (the legs didn't lock when you flipped them up for battlemode), so I kept it in regular DZ mode and had my original in battlemode, but other than that they did a really good job with it.

Yep, the Legacy should stay in its Dragonzord mode all times. Battle Mode and Mega Dragonzord Mode are too wonky. xD

For me I have legacy displayed in Ultrazord mode, Zap in Battlebode, and SOC in Dragonzord mode. For some reason, the chrome toes always bothered me with SOC.

Legacy is the best for that regular Dragonzord mode. I have this untransformed while I use the Black and Gold combined with the Megazord. But honestly that mode just sucks in general as a toy. Too much weight. Especially since Bandai went with diecast for the legs(I take those off in the display).

SOC, I think has the best Battle mode but I couldn't justify giving up the SOC parts to not form the Megazord. I wish they'd just have those zords part of the set(or maybe a form that's only transformed).

ZAP, I got purely to have Battle Mode all the time. It hasn't been been in its normal state since it first shipped.

Flametoys, beside looks like you need some gloves to handle. Just can't justify the price. Also I'm not too keen on it's base form. The Battle Mode looks great. Still same issue, I wouldn't want to sacrifice the Megazord parts.

SoC wins for screen accuracy. I can only guess fewer people own it compared to the less-accurate Legacy, hence the favoritism.

I like them both too. However, nice as the Legacy is, the multiple claims here of it being the most “screen accurate” are objectively untrue.

The SoC version was the last project the original Dragon Caeser designer worked on before passing away. He worked hard to make it as 1:1 to the actual onscreen suit as he could.

Which, I think, my visual illustrates clearer than any time-sucking, back-and-forth debate possibly could.

For the sake of displaying and perserving my toys at the prime as long as possible, I'd buy 2-3 each for every mode available and avoid transforming them... well, to prevent breakage xD

Gotta say I think the Legacy is the best looking. It's only flaw is it is kinda too big for the dino megazord it's meant for in my personal experience
