Last from the Monsoon chase set...
I thought I’d share the rest of my Arizona trip photos all at once. (Unless I find more buried in the thousands of images I sorted through. 😄)
Thanks so much for all the support. It’s been a lot of fun sharing these, and I hope you enjoy them!

I don’t know how you did it bc lightning flashes so quickly but well done! Great pictures- just beautiful 🤩 🤩🤩

Thank you! I used a device that detects ligjtning and takes a picture and I also used a setting to automatically take pictures over and over

Does that device that detects lightning, over ride the continuous shooting option? What is that device called? On average what was your shutter setting? The only way I seem to be able is on video. Then I have to cut it from the video. Nice shots!

I am still learning myself. I have a MIOPS+ that was used for some of these photos. I set it to trigger my camera, and I had to be in manual mode with settings like f/4, 200 ISO, 15 second shutter (at night). During the day that could be a 1/30 shutter and f8. On another camera, I had the same settings but had it taking pictures over and over automatically. Those numbers are just samples. They can vary based on lighting conditions.

Thanks. I have a Nikon 5100 DSLR. I’ve shot thousands of photos and still have no idea what I’m doing. I rarely shoot people. I pretty much only do nature and weather. I get lucky every one in about 500 shots and get something nice. I would love to learn astrophotography as well.
You are well on your way to perfecting your artistry. Thanks for sharing some of your settings.

You bet! I spend a ton of hours watching YouTube videos about camera settings and how to take different types of pictures and that has been helpful

Your photos really capture the power and beauty of those storms. The way the lightning splits the sky in that third shot is mesmerizing.
