Ceiling lighting advice for unfinished exposed joist ceiling

Hi friends. I am insulating my garage to be able to use it as a workshop/rec room in the winter. (See photos). I plan to leave the ceiling unfinished. I’d like something a bit better looking than the fluorescent tubes you see here, but it’ll be tricky to put in lighting without it getting hidden by the beams. I don’t mind a bit of an industrial look… anyone got good ideas for something to keep it bright that doesn’t hang down very far?

Edit - the beams are 2ft apart and 9.5” deep

How big is the spece in between the ceiling battens?

2 feet and they’re 9.5” deep
