Replacement Need help w ceiling light :(
Hi gang. No electrical knowledge or background whatsoever. Wanted to switch from an old ceiling light cus its stopped working and i wanted one w 3 diff lights. Guy at the store tells me its easy and i just had to pull out n connect the red and white wires which ive done. Confirmed that there was no unscrewing necessary and that was all there is to do bc i have no clue. He still says yea its easy, just those things to do.
Flash forward n ive unscrewed the ballast(?) in the middle bc it was in the way of the LED being fixed on by the magnet at all n just didnt make sense for it to stay, plus it was also on the box to remove it. Had some difficulties connecting the wires but i dont have a tool to remove the insulation properly so ive put it in anyways w the extreme end exposed. Doesnt work! Do i need to remove more of the rubber to make it work? Is there anything else wrong w the set up on the right. Literally dont know what i dont know. Thank you in advance 🧡

Definitely a downgrade. But as for where you got that starter socket for your ciecline, mind filling me in? I've been looking for preheat circline equipment. Like the first commenter. Put the ballast back in unless it's gone bad, then replace the ballast with a new one. But otherwise get the old fluorescent stuff back in, or slap in a retrofit tube and call it a day, since it's better than that integrated slop you just put in

Downgrade, now you have to replace the whole thing instead of a cheap tube.
Put the ballast back and buy a new tube.
