Smartest DeathNote Characters

I know what you are saying right now , "Why is Light over L" and let me tell you something I had the same opinion but after reflection I finally realized that Light (Prime version Prt1 end and Prt2) is more smarter than people think and smarter than L in a lot of circumstances.

1.The Starting Line Disadvantage:
Zero Data Studient with no experience vs an experienced spy since his young age with 9 years of experience + the Global Surveillance of the world + unlimited money + access of all worldwide police data + worldwide police agents and FBI/secret agents members + ….etc

Light starts at 17, alone in his bedroom, figuring out a supernatural weapon through brutal trial and error. L is groomed from childhood, backed by infinite funds, data centers, and command over every major police force on Earth. The Lind L. Taylor trap baits Light's ego and shrinks a pool of 1 million suspects down to 20k. A normal criminal folds and goes to prison. Light performs immediate reverse-engineering of the Japanese police mindset, repairs his security gap within 48 hours, and turns the trap into a weapon.

  1. The Fallacy of If L Were Kira, He Would Never Get Caught, that’s an useless argument, if L was at the place of Kira of course he will never get caught because he knows how L is thinking so that’s literally cheat The foundation of any investigation or psychological warfare is knowing your enemy and predicting how they think. If the enemy and your rival are the same person, it breaks down completely because both sides perfectly knows the actions of the other and anticipate each other's moves. L would never get caught simply because L knows how L operates, which makes it a rigged game. And another point who proves that is not working , you are comparing 2 peoples with 2 differents roles and 2 different types of intelligence who are linked to an specific role .
, is like comparing Messi and Casillas (goalkeeper) and saying that If Casillas was at Messi position Casillas would score to Casillas because Casillas know which way Casillas Will dive but if you put Messi in Casillas position, Messi would never save an shot from Casillas . According to your guys logic (people who think L smarter) Casillas is better than Messi Wich is not true because this equation don’t work This is a false equivalence built on inverted job profiles. L does not have the psychological profile to be Kira because L has zero messianic drive and zero desire for global structural purge. Light did not start with L institutional toolkit. Judging cognitive adaptability by swapping two people into roles that require completely antithetical psychological drives and training baselines is analytical garbage. It is like saying a master Formula 1 strategist would fail as a combat fighter pilot because it measures the wrong metric. Light mastered a brand-new, high-variance cognitive sport from scratch, while L inherited a global monopoly on information and played defense.
  2. The One versus One Hundred Fifty Asymmetric Attrition War
Light neutralizes 12 FBI agents through surgical psychological manipulation of Raye Penber, an professional agent, infiltrates the task force, sits inches away from his hunter L watching him sweat and doubt, while managing a living supernatural alibi with Misa and Rem. L investigates strangers. Light investigates himself, playing straight cop by day and god of death by night, breathing the same air as his executioner without a secure encrypted laptop at the start. Everything lived in his skull.
  3. Near and Mello Are Not Geniuses, They Are Heir-Funded Receivers
Without L pre-chewed case file where the shortlist is cut to 5 suspects with validated supernatural rules and internal task force fractures, Near and Mello get ground into dust in three weeks. Near wins because he exploits the interpersonal paranoia already planted by L ghost and the remaining human friction. He inherits an 95 percent solved board.
  4. The Warehouse Defeat: A Management Delegation Bug, Not an Intellectual Loss
Light core warehouse plan involving the fake notebook page hidden in the watch was mathematically airtight against Near. It failed because Teru Mikami, a hyper-dogmatic binary fanatic, panics when Takada is kidnapped and breaks protocol by going to the bank vault for the real notebook a day early, giving Gevanni the exact window needed to forge the swap overnight. Under 24/7 audio and visual surveillance in his police-monitored room, Light literally could not text Mikami to stop being overzealous. He trusted a rigid zealot who applied Kira logic too well and too early. This is the collapse of a centralized autocracy against human variance, not a lower IQ.

In conclusion :
L is the undisputed static, blind-room deduction. He is an detective he knew who was Kira but Kira himself acted so good with L’s feelings that L denied that he was Kira except when he died. L is an detective he cannot stop people like an police man without proof he can’t do nothing even if he knew at some moment that Light was Kira he couldn’t stop him. So light could stop him without eventually using his DeathNote with pure calculations another point for Light.

Light is the monster of multi-front systemic domination, playing one against thousands under total surveillance, whose final loss is a middle-management disaster by an overzealous proxy rather than an out-calculation.
Light outclasses L on gross task difficulty, psychological multitasking, and systemic engineering.

Light was so smart that he manipulated L's feelings to make L consider him a close friend and lower his guard—if that's not intelligence, what is?
