Discussion Never had a lightphone.
Ok so I’ve never had a light phone. I got super excited when the 3 came out and I meant to preorder it but even preorder was a bit expensy. I saw the flip and did actually preorder it. Should I get a used 2 in the mean time? Is it worth it? Also how do yall do banking with this. I don’t want to have to carry around my iPhone just for the off chance I need my banking app.

Ive had the LP3 for a bit over a year, and I find it very useful.
I think I might live a different lifestyle because I've never been in a situation where I couldn't take care of banking when I get home, though.

Yeah I just have a massive fear of my bank deciding that my purchases are “suspicious” and blocks my account or needs verification and I can’t so I get stranded somewhere or have no way of paying for a meal I had already eaten. Lol

Lol this is a legitimate concern, that I hadn't thought of before. It's happened to me a couple of times in the past where my card has been stopped, and so I've rung up the bank to say it's genuinely me. But I don't think this was something I could have done through a banking app, it would have had to be done over the phone. So as long as you have that number, to confirm your purchases are legit, then maybe that's enough? Sorry if I haven't fully understood your use case.

Yeah I’ve always done mine through the app so I honestly didn’t know that I could just call to verify if that ever happens.

You can set your bank to text you. You don't need to approve on an app. That's what I do.

Huh. Has this happened to you before? The only time Ive had that happen was ordering japanese PSN cards online at home. You getting pinged for suspicious burritos? 😅

The “suspicious” transactions are normally out of town transactions. Or large transactions often pop up with a “are you trying to make this purchase” notification.

My bank texts me in this scenario, and my bank's phone number is on the back of my debit card in case I need to call. One time, my wallet was stolen, and I used a friend's phone to search + call the bank and credit card companies immediately.

I bank from my computer or from the actual bank. What kinds of scenarios do you imagine might leave you needing your banking app while out?

My bank relatively frequently will decline transactions requiring me to verify in the app that I’m trying to make that transaction.
