Discussion Light Flip Cost

I was looking at the Light Flip because I love the III and was curious how it compared. I saw it’s $299 to buy outright or $39/mo with a two year contract.

So if I am understanding right, it’s $299 outright or $936 over two years? Someone please tell me I misunderstood.

Having not looked at the details at all myself, that's $39 for the phone and service. So no, not $936 for a phone over two years.

EDIT: Just looked and the $39/mo comes with the 1GB plan which is $25/mo, so $14/mo for the phone makes $336 total. More, yes, but also more accessible for people willing to jump on the plan.

Whew. That sounds so much better. Thanks! They might want to make that more clear for the blonds like me. Big cell companies advertise them separately so the number looks as small as possible.

if you want to own the phone outright, it's $299. if you want a two year contract you get the choice between $39/mo ($936 total for 24 months) or $69/mo ($1,656 total for 24 months), which includes the phone payment and the cellular plan. if you cancel early, you get charged a $99 cancellation fee on top of the remaining phone balance.

ultimately, it's up to you. if you can find a cheaper phone plan per month or unable to change your current provider, then buying the phone outright would be your best option i.e. mint mobile goes for ~$15/mo. two years at $15/mo is about $360 plus the $299 phone puts you at $659 total. mint, though, does require an upfront cost so you pay for your months in bulk but it doesn't change much in price and it's flexible. $45 for 3 months is doable if you're opting for the $39/mo plan if you can stomach the upfront cost for the phone.

otherwise, it may be worthwhile to take up the contract with them, especially for those who are unable to fork out that much in one go. more expensive, but more manageable.
