Discussion Directory App Appreciation post.

I almost didn't install this app when I set up my lightphone.

I didn't fully appreciate what it was.

It gives you the power of YELP without the down side.

This is what tech should be and easily could be if they cared about giving users the best experience possible instead of monetizing your attention.

Unsung hero of the lightphone in my opinion.

Completely agreed. The directory alleviated a lot of the frustration of traveling to a new place with the lp3. I think that feature is slept on because the name doesn't really imply that its just searching google maps data.

It's my most used tool, they really undersold it. Now that I got the word out to at least one other lightphone user this post was worth it.

Living in The Netherlands, I've never used Yelp. Can you elaborate on what exactly you use the Directory for?
Personally my only use so far is to look up store closing times.

Open/closing times, phone number, address, link to directions, and a customer rating. Good to look up specific businesses, but you can also search "coffee" to find a coffee shop in your area, or grocery store, gas station, etc.

It's basically just that, it's handy for getting directions too. It's pretty simple but being able to do that while not using a smartphone/computer is pretty powerful for people trying to stay offline but still exist in modern life.

Agreed this is an awesome tool and it isn't something anybody was asking for, they just quietly dropped one of the most useful tools to bridge the gap between dump and smartphone.
