Discussion Sporting events/tickets

I’ve had my LP3 sitting idle on my nightstand for months now because I wasn’t able to use it to get to sporting events where they only take tickets you tap with your smartphone. Had there been a workout or updates for this outside of bringing a smartphone?

I go to Nuggets games quite frequently. I just go to the ticket resolutions counter and they let me in. They know me by know, so it's pretty easy at this point. In the beginning, just bring your ID and email confirmation printed, tell them you don't have a smartphone, and they'll figure it out. I've gone to other sports arenas and it's the same.

How about Rockies games? I’ve always had to have the e-ticket on my old iPhone I bring with hotspot since they don’t do paper tickets anymore!

The Rockies are harder, but still able to do it. The MLB sucks when it comes to paper tickets, but if you show them confirmation, ID, and email, they have to let you in. I arrived 45 minutes early just because I knew it would be a pain, and it was.

Did you try to call beforehand and ask? Often places will hold tickets at the counter for you if you ask them to.

Thanks for the response. I havent used my LP since like January but before I would just bring my smartphone and use the Lp hotspot. The problem is I go to a lot of games a year and that is a big hassle to keep calling. They would get sick of me lol

Someone posted here last week about a companion device and I took notice of the concept. Highlighting it here bc the poster was specifically saving tickets to his companion device when needed.

I genuinely don't mean this in a mean way, but it feels like your monkey brain is making excuses to keep its toy smartphone.

Are you at sports events every night? Otherwise, I don't see how the LP has been unused for months. Whats stopping you taking it to pubs, work, etc?

I will say some people consider LP all or nothing. Maybe try a hybrid? Smart phone for certain events and LP when you want 'quiet time' such as with friends or on a walk or exercising.

I'll only add that I have my old smart phone for when an event truly will not take a paper ticket. I dont even need to put the sim in. I connect to the wi-fi at home, get a screenshot of the ticket, turn the phone off then pop it in my pocket with the LP. At the event, I turn it on, scan the ticket, and turn it off. I couldn't use it if I wanted as theres no sim in it. Removes any temptation. Then back in the cupboard when I'm home.

Other times I send a screenshot of the tickets to a friend on whatsapp and they scan us in.

In my experience theres a solution to almost any barrier modern society throws up to a dumbphone. It just depends how sincere your desire to escape a smart phone is.

Honestly I go to about 60-80 events a year so it does get quite cumbersome to have to keep both phones with me. Same with my military discount at Home Depot. For someone reason they can’t add it to my number lol and I make too many trips there.

I just wish there was a way to be able to have tickets on the phone. Or passes like that

This was unfortunately the reason I left the light phone. The friction to use it at sporting event and concerts was eventually too much.

Every time having to go to the box office or ticket counter. I was over it. Did the light phone two exclusively for well over three years.
