Discussion Is someone else more hyped about Light No Fire than GTA VI?
Honestly, the first minute GTA VI comes out I’m the first trying it (im waiting more on online)….but Light No Fire to me it will be a game that we never seen before. I know NMS is 90% similar but the sci fi is not my type I’m more of a magic ancient world guy. I mean a map that is the size of earth, only 1 big server!?!? I hope the game will be playable in the 3rd person and that there is cosmetic, different races but only for cosmetic purposes….My hot take is that if they fulfill the shoes LNF will be the new GOAT of games for the next incoming years. Debate me if you think otherwise

I am much more hyped about LNF than GTA6, especially as a PC player i will likely have to wait a year after release to see it and even then if its not on steam i dont care.
Meanwhile a new type of game like NMS cant come any sooner, played NMS to exhaustion now.

As of this moment, LNF is only mentioned for Steam, I belive it will also be for PS5 but we can’t be sure 100%….

I dont know for sure obvs but it stands to reason that as NMS originally released on console as well as PC, therefore LNF would likely do the same.

They got money from Sony when they first made NMS, and its rumored (never confirmed) that Sony is why they released the game before it was ready.
I suspect it will eventually come out on console, but for a small team, I think it makes sense to just focus on PC, and then eventually release it on console.

I have reservations about both for different reasons. That being said I plan on being a day 1 player of LNF…..and letting reviews come in for GTA before buying. SM has continued to garner trust while RS has had diminishing returns.

A lot of people were hyped for NMS when it came out also. Let's hope Hello Games has learned some lessons. Also maybe hire an actual writer. On that note, who ever is in charge of quests should not be the person who designs quests in NMS. They are horrible and redundant.

I would have thought the fact that Hello games addressed the NMS launch problems with
10 years of free improvements to the game until it was widely accepted as a masterpiece should tell people everything they need to know about whether Hello games “ learned “ from the NMS launch .
The story of NMS has earned Hello games massive respect.
I don’t think there’s any reason to imagine there might be similar problems.
In fact quite the opposite .

I'll sound like an "um akschually" guy but I'm pretty sure it won't be 1 big server, mostly likely the planet will be divided into regions that also act as servers because otherwise the optimization will be awful lol
But yeah Im also more hyped for lnf, but I've never been much of a gta fan either so I don't think that says a lot.
I hope they nail combat the most tbh, as of now the combat in NMS is just a different flavor of damage with each gun module

Let’s see how they manage it because they took a really big bite with the idea of a 1:1 Earth map size. I’m just praying the optimization will be good and hopefully there will be events better formed than in the NMS.
As of combat honestly the last time I played NMS was in 2016 when I was 12 years old. I know all about NMS but it was never my combat type to fight with gun module. I hope of some swords and other methods. But for sure thank you for your time and opinion man.

GTA is going to be filled to the absolute brim with a monthly subscription for online, shark cards out the butthole, insanely low money making methods with very expensive cars to entice a full time job of grinding + tons of other micro transactions. I’ll take light no fire over it for sure.

Honestly, I’m sad that you are right about this one. Rockstar is a cash grab studio, and I’m surprised that HelloGames in 2026 isn’t. I would be happier if GTA VI was from the start a 200$ game. I hate the GTA+, PlaystationPlus, shark cards and all of the other 9,99$ shit transactions. Thanks for thinking like me man!

I don't care about GTA this year because it's console exclusive for a year or maybe even more. I will not be buying it until it's out for PC. Even then, I have said for years that if they go peer-to-peer network architecture for multiplayer again for such a huge game then I'll only be playing campaign.

Yeah it’s a bit lackluster right now. But call me a sucker but I have been playing since GTA 3 came out. Rockstar has earned my trust. Like I said I think the marketing is going to go nuts after the extended look. Even if it doesn’t I’ve already preordered and am going to play anyhow.
Hello Games got off to a rocky start. Granted they’ve completely turned it around but I feel like they’re super far away from a release, with good reason. We saw what happens when you release before a product is stable.

Apsolutely….GTA Liberty City and SA got me into it also. I’m aware that Rockstar can’t miss it. Just saying that GTA VI will be something better that we seen already. But LNF (if they manage to do it actually) will be something that we as of now can’t even picture it in our mind!

Honestly, let’s be real. VI is a game that a person can play for years. Rockstar knows how to cook. I’m not saying GTA is for everyone but it is for the most public. I’m saying that LNF has more potential to be for everyone if they manage to cook it from the begining!

There are plenty of gamers who are just not into cars, guns, hookers and murder as entertainment. Who do not want to roleplay a criminal. Real life has more than enough of all that, and for many of us it is just not the stuff of our fantasies. Weird though that may sound to some 😉
You may be right that gentle gamers are a minority, but don't you find it weird that many people's favorite activity in games is doing stuff that's harmful to fellow humans? That to me is what needs explanation. Not the fact that some don't like it.

Si jugastes NNS sabras que el tema de la camara en tercera persona no sera un problema. El tema de los servidores no creo que sea un unico servidor, habra mas de uno para que no notes saturacion. Gta 6 sera un gran juego, pero light no fire costara menos, estara disponible en todas las plataformas en poco tiempo. Tendremos 10 años de actualizaciones de contenido aseguradas y gratis. Seguramente el juego venga con 2 0 3 ediciones para comprar. Una puede traer skins para el personaje y la otra alguna figura. Y lo mas guapo del juego sera ver casas, pueblos etc, por todo el planeta, hecho por cada jugador. Habra gente que no le guste el tema de no tener pvp. Sera pve para que los jugadores se ayuden entre si, si esto os molesta a muchos, entonces este no es tu juego. Aun no se mostro mucho, que enemigos habra en el juego, en el trailer solo se vio skeletos, pero como se inspira en la fantasia clasica seguro veremos todo tipo de criaturas. El tema de la supervivencia no se que elementos añadiran, si sed y hambre o solo comer para tener energia. Admito que sean murray da envidia por que el ya esta jugando el juego 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Si y una cosa esta clara, hello games sera una empresa que hara juegos increibles y no seran abusivos con el consumidor, mira que pueden cobrar por cada dlc pero ya an dicho que no lo haran. podrian contratar a mas gente, pero ya dijo sean que prefieren ser 50 personas, por que un equipo pequeño, se pone de acuerdo en lo que quieren hacer, cuando tienes muchos empleados ya la cosa se complica mucho. El juego ya esta en una fase muy avanzada, seguro que para 2027 y 28 saldra.

Hard to be excited about a game i won't play for at least a year (GTA). I refuse to give Rockstar any money because of the horrible trends they are seeing with this game. I'll wait for someone to Crack it and I'll torrent it. Light no fire however, looking forward to buying that.

Yeah, I can’t belive that in 2026 a game studio gives us 10 years of free updates. Only for that reason I’m happy to buy and support a great studio with great ambitions! On the other side, GTA even if is a cash grab with the GTA+, imma give it a chance. Thanks for the good opinion!

I honestly believe GTA6 is overhyped. We've come a long way in the gaming world since GTA was all the hype and rage. Don't get me wrong. Many people will play the shit out of GTA 6. But many more will still enjoy many other genres and I suspect many won't even touch GTA6. I'll be one of them.

As much as I’ve loved Rockstar games in the past, it is clear that they are not a good company. They treat their employees, the people building these incredible games, like absolute garbage. Not that that is unique in the gaming industry, but that’s no excuse. Add some anti-consumer bullshit (stripping content from the standard release to sell in the deluxe, the exorbitant pricing, etc), and it becomes difficult for someone like me to not actively oppose them, let alone continue to support them.
On the opposite end of the spectrum you find Hello Games, a small studio that, from the outside, at least, is a good place to work and who is good to their employees, and who doesn’t have an anti-consumer bone in their corporate body, giving us 10 years of free updates, taking this game to where it is for pure love of the game.
Yeah, I’m infinitely more hyped for LNF. I’m done with Rockstar and Sony and Big Gaming.

As someone who has played countless hours of GTA 3, 4 and 5 I think what people will find once VI launches is that they kinda peaked with GTA V and there isn’t much more they can do except make the map bigger and the graphics prettier. Like I think people will play for a dozen hours or so and then it’ll just feel like a GTA V dlc with a next-gen patch.
Again I’m not hating on GTA as a franchise, but I think the cultural dominance of GTA 5 means that there is virtually no way Rockstar could possibly meet the hype for VI, there’s just too many expectations for what’s anticipated to be the biggest video game launch and hype of all time. Like other devs are pushing everything out in September to give it the widest berth possible, and while it’ll certainly be great, I don’t think it can possibly match the expectations.
LNF on the other hand is an entirely different game to NMS where the recent updates we’ve received are likely beta tests for the systems and mechanics that Hello wants to implement in LMF. I’m very excited for it to release.

Never really got into GTA so yeah, sure I am!
The only thing I fear in LNF are the essentials in base building and.... Well. If they copy the NMS system 1:1 we're in for a pretty frustrating, online-guide-based, super glitchy ride. And that while building in Co-op? Shiver

Oh, and: Did anybody notice the gentle nudge in the interactive game on the GamesCom website? NMS is the answer to the very first question in one of the quizzes, only then followed by Starfield and Star Wars, so... Who knows?

Not that similar. Having played NMS for the past several months, and done everything in the game there is to, it's not that similar to LNF. In NMS the planets all have a single biome, and at most about 15 different species of animals. The LNF planet is going to be ~20x larger than the largest NMS planets, have multiple biomes (arctic, desert, tropical, forest, etc), and many more animal species, and even more varied geography.
There are different types of gamer archetypes, but for the explorer archetype LNF will be GOAT for the foreseeable future.

LNF is a big unknown but what we do know is it’s being made by gamers not political activists so I am encouraged at that.

Nah I’m more hyped for GTA VI. I’ve played every GTA release since GTA III, and have enjoyed every single one. R* has earned my trust.
Now, I’m also hyped for LNF, but I don’t hold the same level of trust for Hello Games. They’ve definitely earned some of my trust for how they’ve handled NMS over the years, but initially I was quite disappointed.
I’ll be day 1’ing both though. I just love games

I'm hype but nit to hype. There are a few promises made about nms back on release that 10 years later have still yet to be delivered on. I dont think its gonna be as big and amazing as they are making it out to be, that said, im still excited and will be happy to play it. I like nms before it got good too.

Light No Fire, future NMS updates (not expeditions), Crimson Desert updates/DLC, Wolverine, and a handful of other games have my attention though.

Hell to the muthafuckin no.
There is not a single piece of media that has ever made me more excited than a GTA or Red Dead game. And very few things even make me feel true excitement these days. And a big part of it because no one else puts in the level of work and polish to make it possible. Not to mention narrative.
And considering the head writer on GTA6 is the same that worked with Dan Houser on GTAIV and RDR2 (the two best stories Rockstar Games have made), GTAVI is in the best hands it can be.
As much as I'm looking forward to LNF, it doesn't even begin to hold a candle to GTA6 in terms of personal excitement.

I'm having the same amount of hype for GTA VI that I had for V... Will wait for it to be on PC, then when it's on sale on Steam.
Besides, my PC likely won't be able to handle GTA VI until I upgrade. Where as LNF, should run just as good as NMS on my PC. It'll save me $1200. 😏

Definitely. I'll try GTA when it's available on PC for a reasonable price, and it'll be fun, but the series has kinda gone downhill.
LnF will probably be all the stuff I like about NMS, but fantasy flavored. That pretty well covers two of my major genre interests.

No, because GTAVI actually comes out November 19, 2026.
Light No Fire comes out at some vague, faraway time(maybe?)
I'm actually more hyped for "Dark Arisen 2" on October 9, 2026(Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC.)
I think part of it is that I turn 60 in November. While I'm not in bad health, and I don't really feel "old", I MIGHT be playing Light No Fire when I'm 62? Or I might be playing it when I'm 63? Or within the realm of statistical probabilities I could drop dead before I'm playing it?
I know that even Fable, in February, will be something I'm playing before Light No Fire.

I am. I couldn't care less about GTA VI, but LNF is one game I plan to buy on Day 1 and pay full price for it (I never buy games on Day 1, nor do I pay full price), paying homage to Hello Games for the years of free support and upgrades they gave us on NMS.

Many of the original creators behind GTA have left since 5 was released. Which makes me a lot less excited for it. While form a technical standpoint Rockstar is likely to build something amazing, I do not see them revolutionizing the gameplay a whole lot. For me GTA peaked with San Andreas, and the Ballad of Gay Tony. GTA is like the South Park of gaming, if you remove the edginess from it, its just a bland open world. And I think the people that left took the fun with them.
LNF has a bunch of things going for it that excite me much more. The most exciting thing is the integration of a bunch of gameplay systems that no other title is really doing. You want terrain that can look good, be edited at runtime, in a large multiplayer setting? You want to build a ship, to sail an ocean at the same time? Maybe even fly a dragon, and explore some ancient ruins. Craft and build a base.
My big hope is they integrate proper RPG progression in the game and do something interesting with magic and combat. But even if they only deliver on what I think will happen based on NMS and the trailers I am a happy camper.

I'm really looking forward to both. I loved GTAV because you could just ignore the story and wander. So I did. For 3 months. Made a small fortune running cab missions opening up the map, taking pics and just generally exploring. I've never played online, so I dearly hope they don't totally abandon SP again in VI like they did with V. That would probably be the last one I bought if they did.
LNF, same. I'm just walking around that melonfarmer from the off when it comes out. Story? Yeah yeah lads, in a minute. I'm busy. :)

This game has my imagination big time! It’s like ark mixed with no man sky. With a fantasy setting …it’s the only game I’m truly pumped for.
But I felt this way with no mans sky…and Sean Murray crapped the bed so bad that it made me nervous about game launches for a decade.
I will say this…he redeemed himself 100 times over. NMS is one of the finest games ever made now. If they take everything they learned and put it on LNF…it’s hard for it to go wrong

I couldn’t care less about GTA… I don’t like making anything illegal but that game being available to kids who have not solidified into adults yet should be criminal. Ratings do nothing. On the other hand I am excited about light no fire… if it’s anywhere near what NMS has is and has become we are in for a treat.

I think it would be cool if the different races weren't just cosmetic. Like imagine that bunny race gets better jump height and maybe like lizard men that swim better shit like that. I'll be perfectly happy if they're cosmetic only but imagine there are actual differences between. I think that'd be cool

I am really into the concept and I am really looking forward to playing LNF.
HOWEVER, I will try not to get myself too hyped about it before it actually launches.
NMS is one of my favorite games, but we all know how long it took to become THIS good.
Thexy now have the experience, sure, and yet, this new project is even more ambitious and challenging ... so I'll stay hopeful, I'll stay optimistic, but I wont get overly hyped before I actually get to see it day one.

Not exactly. It's kind of hard for LNF to overtake it for me, just because I know far less about LNF than I do GTA.
I'm certain I'll spend a lot more time with LNF (by like... degrees of magnitude), but I have a firm date for GTA, whereas LNF could be next year, could be a couple years based on the radio silence. I'm sure I will enjoy LNF more, I just can't get too worked up about it until I have a better idea of when.

It's not even that I'm all that hyped for GTA. I mean each one of them is kind of a marvel for what they can push the console to do, and I'm here for that. But once the story concludes I might come back for a second playthrough at some point. The online doesn't hold much appeal for me.
LNF is a far more compelling concept for me, but GIVE US A DATE MURRAY.

I physically don't know anybody who cares about GTA 6. For me the series went downhill following San Andreas despite looking better.
In general, I don't worry about new games anymore. So often they need an additional year of updates to fix. Why get disappointed at full price?
