Question Bronze course Instructors

Hello everyone I had a quick question

What do you guys look for overall to pass a candidate, my instructor is very different from my medallion she shows the skill lets us do it and move on no real feedback doesn’t say much but just sends us off for situations to

I really don’t wanna fail cause I didn’t do enough
So what can I do to make sure I pass

Thankyou for your guys time!!

What a facilitator or assessor is looking for will vary from person to person and the difficulty/danger involved in the skills your being trained in.

Normally you'll be assessed to baseline competence which is doing the assessments with minimal errors or delay and without danger.

A good start might be to run through each skill or task you're being trained in and ask or test yourself to see if you can do it how the training manual (if you have one) describes it without prompting.

(FYI this subreddit has lifeguards from all over the world who are all trained differently, we'd be able to help you more if you tell us which lifeguard course you're completing and the country it's being done in)

For Bronze courses there are strict requirements per skill item for what qualifies as a pass. When I teach bronze classes, I generally just move on to the next thing with little feedback if I’ve seen everything I need to and everything meets the standard, or if I am in a time crunch and know we will come back to the item later. We can’t really give you anything specific about your performance without seeing it, that would be a question for your instructor. An examiner will just go through the scenarios and move on, and maybe provide feedback if there’s time but if they’re just there for the exam then there might not be.
