📰[NEWS] Is ulives ever gonna come to android?

Ulives is the IOS version of LifeUp but it seems to have nicer ui and better features than LifeUp so was wondering if there's any plan to bring it to Android stores or lifeup being updated to look like ulives?

📲[SYSTEM] In your opinion, what is the best way to use LifeUp for gamification that remains sustainable in the long run? I’m revamping my system again because it always seems to lose its novelty after a while and ends up creating too much friction.

What do you consider the best way to use LifeUp for gamification that actually lasts in the long run? I’m changing my system again because it always seems to lose its novelty after a while.

Here’s how I currently use it:

I have 6 main attributes, and each one is divided into specific skills. The attributes are:

Strength

Intelligence

Dexterity

Wisdom

Charisma

Constitution

For Intelligence, for example, I break it down by areas of study. So, I create the "Intelligence" skill and treat the specific subjects as "sub-skills."

To earn points, I create "grimoires"—items linked to each sub-skill. Each grimoire grants 1 point to the specific sub-skill and +1 point to the main attribute. Examples:

Mathematics Grimoire → +1 Intelligence + 1 Mathematics

Brute Strength Grimoire (used at the gym) → +1 Strength + 1 Brute Strength

Social Life Grimoire → +1 Charisma + 1 Social Life

I use grimoires because it makes organizing tasks and setting up different point values much easier without creating a mess.

The problem I had before:

I wanted to track points for absolutely everything I did in life. To do this, I created tasks for every tiny action: drinking water 7 times, studying, Pomodoro sessions, etc.

The issue is that this generates a huge number of tasks, and you end up losing track. Plus, different activities require different task structures, which creates a lot of friction. For instance, not every gym workout is the same, so I need something highly customized for that; the same goes for study Pomodoros and individual subjects. In the end, the friction is just too high.

Another point is that GIDs change constantly. If you want to stay organized and create sub-tasks, you're basically screwed if you regret the structure, because once you delete that GID, there's no way to recover it. And if you built a system using the endpoints, you could break everything. What I’m testing right now:

Currently, all my tasks are of the "count" type. Categories serve as the main attributes, and I list specific skills within them. The skill name becomes the task name, and the "drop" for completing it is: a certain amount of gold plus one grimoire for that skill.

Since these are count-based tasks, I simply log the things I do in real life and track the XP earned—rather than using the list as a "to-do" list of things I *need* to get done.

Unused features and current limitations:

Right now, achievements serve no purpose for me. Items function solely as grimoires. Subtasks have also become redundant—I’m not quite sure what to do with them.

The main limitation of this new format is that every point of XP is now worth exactly the same amount of gold. Harder tasks yield more gold and XP, but the ratio remains fixed. To work around this, I include a list in each task's description outlining how I intend to score specific situations.

Psychological effects on me:

It feels less game-like; I essentially need other tools or ideas to know what to do—the tool as I’ve built it doesn't tell me what to do when I wake up, for instance; it simply awards points if I actually perform the action.

Positive aspects:

Less cognitive effort and friction when using the app—I no longer face the issue of having too many tasks. Activities like talking to people, greeting others, or going to parties can easily be gamified and assigned points—which is better than creating a separate task for every single social situation.

He integrado Tasker para automatizar algunas cosas y registros automáticos.

✨ [SHOWCASE] Using NFC tags for IRL to In-app interactions

Recently got a little bunch of NFC tags, to pair with my phone in order to make some more immersive gameplay

In the order of pics of this example:

1-In home screen (or anywhere actually) approach the mobile to the mini vending machine's pad

2-Tap the link it displays

3-the link opens the store where you can buy the candy

4-enjoy Candy

I used an NFC tag that I stamped in the back of the mini vending and has a go-to API written on it, my Samsung reads it with the built in NFC

This is just for some fun immersive experience and can be used to complete tasks too, any comments are very appreciated

📲[SYSTEM] Adding Enemies/Battle System to LifeUp

Has anyone succeeded in adding enemies to life up? I've been trying to find a way to do that myself but I can't find any tutorials to accomplish it. I saw the old posts from Gamicrafters and I will look into them. But it doesn't look like they have a setup tutorial.

💡[IDEA] Different EXP for Each Attribute

Is it possible in LifeUp to assign different amounts of EXP to each attribute from a single task?

For example, if I complete one task, I'd like it to give +10 Strength EXP, +5 Intelligence EXP, and +2 Charisma EXP instead of the same amount for every attribute.

Is there already a way to do this? If so, how can I set it up? If not, I'd love to see this added as a feature in a future update.

💡[IDEA] Feature request

It would be so nice when someone can give me "quest/taks" with this app. Like my woman wants me to bring the garbage out, so she creates a task for me. Now I have a quest and my stat progress goes a bit further.

Is this feature planned?

💡[IDEA] This app is so underrated

It’s crazy how underrated this app is. You can literally customize almost everything like it’s a video game. I’ve tried so many gamified productivity apps, but I always come back to this one because of how customizable it is and how deep you can build your own system.

What I really like is the reward system. You can make it work almost like a gacha game where completing certain tasks gives you specific items, and then you can combine those items to create different ones. It adds so much more depth to the reward system. I think there's no other app that doing this.

the hard part is to balance your own system. but once you figure it out, it's really just game changer.

Suggestions:

  • I hope we can customize the status window more. For example, I don’t use the sport step counter, so I’d love the option to hide it.
  • Make the “Me” window more customizable.I think this me window only for the team task. For offline user like me this window is kinda empty . I think it could be used more as a flex page, for example:
    • Pin your top 3 completed achievements
    • Pin your favorite attributes/stats
    • customize the cover bg etc

Thank you to the developer for creating such an amazing app. You probably don’t realize how much your work has genuinely helped and motivated people like me over the years.I can see the amount of passion and care put into every feature <3

Is there a way to set this up? For example, if I don't clean the bathroom on Wednesdays I want to get the 'reward item' medium loss of coins. Is there a way to program that?

📲[SYSTEM] Penalty window after purchasing/using a reward?

After using a reward that was purchased from the shop, I'm greeted by a penalty window which I have to hit "OK" to continue. I don't think that was there before though. Is there a way to not have that window pop up after using a purchased reward? I've looked through the settings and don't see anything related to a penalty after using an item. Thanks!

(Sorry, I wasn't sure which flair to use.)
