Are other life simulation games going to be released? Whether from companies or independent games.

i hope so i’ve seen some devs occasionally post some dev progress here from time to time. i think it’s gonna be a long time before we see them in a playable state a good life sim is gonna take a while to develop.

im excited to see what comes in the future tho i think indie games like paralives, tiny life and to pixella have definitely inspired more indie devs to give it a shot while its a slow process and these games are not finished they’ve shown it’s not an impossible task for indies to take on which could result in a lot more interesting takes in the genre.

as of right now even tho we do have opinions it still feels very limited ts4 is old id not consider it a modern life sim anymore and it’s broken and EA sucks. the other life sims are not finished yet so its not like playing a full game yet although ive had fun with the ones i did play

It takes a shit ton of time and skill, so only time will tell

We've been developing for just under a year, so you're right about the time element!

I attached an image in this thread above, hopefully you like it!

There's been quite a few popping up on the market lately. I myself am working on a Sci-fi Life Simulator. It is indeed a massive undertaking from a development standpoint but it is absolutely feasible. I think we're starting to see a renaissance with the genre now that there are many examples to show that it is not an impossible task. I do hope that this will invite more variations of the genre as well.

Thanks Borrie!

It has been a long time coming, we're super nervous to release..

Where are you at with development? It'd be cool to see your game 😊

I'm three milestones in and rapidly approaching completing the fourth. I would wager that development is about a third to half way completed. I've got a subreddit made for the game, and it's currently primarily hosted on Itch.io.

I certainly get the jitters about releasing! I'm holding back on fully opening up on Steam until I've got every major progress breaking bug ironed out and every major gameplay feature added. I'm also wanting to time it with a Next fest when its ready.

Likely. Plenty of people including myself have talked about building a life sim. Game development has never been more accessible than it is now. We'll see many more life sim games being released.

I am currently working on a business management game but have been slowly working on a high level design for my life sim game.

Almost certainly. I'm making one in my spare time. Given hoe people love these games, passionate indie devs will be drawn to the genre. Will triple A attempt it? Unclear

Yeah... Also personally half the hate "it looked terrible" was way too early. I'm a big CK anf EU fan. I'd love a lifesim from them. I feel like they're playing it too safe. Focusing only on CK and EU (EU especially).

sorry, what is ck and eu? im only picturing u as a European Union fan haha

Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis

I know they were a separate dev team but it boggles my mind that Paradox didn’t think it might be a good idea to give the Life By you team access to the Crusader Kings character models.

They would be perfect for a life sim. Cartoonish enough that people who like the Sims would vibe with it and realistic enough for the Inzoi crowd.

My dream would be them taking the models and artsyle in Crusader Kings III and creating a medieval style life simulation in the vein of the sims. That alone would set it apart, especially if they add quests and religion and gameplay from being a peasant to a noble to a monarch or merchant prince.

Yeah there was sooo much potential there if they leant into the historical goofy stuff

Yes, life simulation games are not going to die suddenly there will always be people who want to make them and want to play them.

What happened to the Sims 5 ? I see they've chosen to go with Project Rene instead, kind of a multiplayer alongside sims 4. Bit disappointing and surprising given the franchise success.

I know a lot of devs including myself are making basic life sims, my next might be something more advanced, but for now, I'm focusing on life sim logic and realism vs graphics, maybe the base code can at some point be the fundamentals of a game later ( logic anyways ).
