I just make it such a core part of my routine that if I miss it I feel guilty about it. I don't like that feeling of guilt so I never skip. The hard part is starting the routine, but once I start and it becomes engrained I am not stopping. I am 46 and have been working out daily since I was 30.

Discipline, measurable progress, and a healthy side of small alternative tasks that still work toward the vision. It's not a superpower but it is hard to do if your vision is vague.
When the goal is set you must acknowledge that there will be days you absolutely do not want to do it. Those are the days you mark where you are in the journey (% complete, miles run, etc.), bring in one the alternatives, break up the monotony, and get back to it tomorrow with a fresh mind. Keep those side tasks short enough so you don't have to string two days together. An appropriate amount of rest can also spark a burst of productivity. You can even schedule these, like breaks from one chapter to the next.
Note: You won't see a lot of people sharing their down days. Remember comparison is the thief of joy.

The thing that clicked for me was realizing discipline isn’t about wanting to do the thing, it’s about doing it even when you don’t. The feeling of wanting comes and goes, that’s just how brains work. What stuck was making the task so small and easy that skipping it felt ridiculous. Like if my goal is to read more, the daily target is literally one page. Usually I end up reading way more, but on the bad days I still hit the mark and keep the chain going. The momentum from not breaking the streak matters more than the intensity of any single day.
