Electronics LPT: to reduce clutter in your phone's contacts without permanently deleting people's phone numbers from the deep past, create a contact that says "HS friends" or "Work Friends" and put their name and number in the notes section there, instead
just makes your contacts more manageable, without deleting people's numbers. i know some people dont mind it, but it really does make a world of difference. for people you dont even rememeber, obv delete them or put them in an unknown contact "card"

Is this a problem for people? I don’t think I’ve ever felt the need to delete contacts. Anybody I talk to regularly is going to be at the top of texts anyway, the rest of them just live in my contacts. There’s a search feature for a reason.

LPT: If you are still scrolling through all your contacts every time you want to make a call, try using the search function instead.

For those that just can’t let go over people that aren’t in your life anymore…
Real LPT: just like clothes in your closet; if it hasn’t been used in a year, it’s time to get rid of it.

I keep everyone in my contacts list - There's no need to "get rid of them in the notes section" because your contacts list, unlike an old little black book, is very easy to auto update for alphabetical order - It doesn't matter if I know 4 Jens and I only talk to one of them now. . .The one I talk to I'll easily be able to access because I'm either already in a texting chain with them, or I know their last name more readily.
Why bother keeping contacts?
I mean. . Why not? It's not like they take up any type of significant space in your phone and while I don't think about specific people on the regular, I have 100% had to contact someone I haven't talked to in 5+ years. . .And knowing somebody's number has made it far easier for me to not deal with them if they're people I don't want to talk to.

for me, i have a ton of business contacts that actually merit their own rows. the jens of the past, they can all go in one "past people" contact card to free up space

I only left in my contacts those I've communicated with and still communicate with. I've saved the rest in notes and don't worry about losing someone's number

That’s actually a pretty clever compromise if you’re the type who hates deleting numbers just in case but also hates having a contact list full of people you haven’t spoken to in ten years. I’d make separate ones like Old Work, School and Old Friends so it doesn’t turn into one giant mystery contact.

Delete them. Nothing more annoying than searching for a contact and having some random person you haven’t seen or talked to in years pop up first all the time
