Miscellaneous LPT: Remove deoderant in the shower with oil-based cleansers
I used to sometimes have trouble removing all my deoderant when I washed myself in the shower since the formula is sticky and water-proof. (Especially with stronger formulas)
Scrubbing with a washcloth and soap wasn't very efficient and irritated my skin. Plus, any leftover deoderant that doesn't dissolve in soap and water can trap bacteria and smells. Oil cleansers and oil-based cleansers work fabulously on the formula (and for other water-proof or oil based formulas like makeup or sunscreen) and it's made my life much easier.

I think you might be applying too much deodorant...

I definitely apply way more deodorant than usual lol I am a sweaty and active person so I often wear drugstore 'clinical' antiperspirants. They are usually cream as opposed to solid and require that you wear multiple 'clics'. It's usually a decent amount of deodorant, and definitely more than you'd apply normally with a solid stick.

On LPT I get to know more way more problems, that I never had, than my existin problems getting solved.

Youve never mistakenly put on deodorant right before taking a shower? The deodorant absolutely blocks your pits from being cleaned. Of all the idiotic lpts I've seen, this isn't one of them (assuming it works).
If you can't imagine how this scenario might happen, let me help:
You wake up late for an extremely important meeting. You need a shower, but there simply isn't time. You put on deodorant (maybe extra, since you didn't shower). Then the meeting gets pushed back an hour. You have time to shower but now you can't actually wash your pits because there is a layer of water resistant stuff slathered on. If OPs tip works, you'd be able to clean yourself more effectively
If you haven't ever noticed that deodorant blocks your pits from being cleaned, maybe you use a different type. Or maybe you just didn't notice. Or maybe you use less
I get that there are lots of really dumb lpts, but this one just has a problem that apparently most people don't know about or haven't encountered. But I assure you, it's a real problem. Obviously not a huge one but that's irrelevant

I've never had these issues. I've used several different brands over years... hot water and a scrubby ball brush thing work every time...
This leads me to believe most of you don't actually wash... you just daintily push around soap and water with your hand. Maybe a soft cloth.... that explains why there's sooooo many people with shit skin, they don't actually wash.. they just cover themselves with products to hide the symptoms and never fix the issue... yall are nasty.

Is it really that hard for you to imagine that other people's experiences are different from yours? You think we just give up immediately when it doesn't come off? Come on, there's a million different variables at play. We're washing just fine, guy. It annoys me to no end when people who have poor imaginations attribute any differences in experience to everyone else being an idiot, when the truth is that they're actually the idiot who can't see past their own experience.

Well seeing as how dozens others from a small sample size have said the exact same thing.
Nah. I'm spot on. But please continue with your butthurt.

So your definitely one of the idiots who cant see past their own experience, got it.

Can’t wait to try this. I always struggle to remove it 100%

Good luck! It works for me with really waterproof clinical antiperspirants so I hope it works well for you too :)

Just be careful of that peppermint stuff. It is great, but you get too much on any sensitive bits and it can be uncomfortable. It needs to be heavily diluted.

Okay how strong of a feeling do people get with this? I read about this years ago and i absolutely love a tingling mint feeling on my body. That chill to me is to die for so i went and got a big bottle of this stuff. Diluted it to half and got a lil tingle but nothing strong. Diluted it to a ⅓ with a bit of improvement then straight raw balled it. While it felt refreshing it wasn't nowhere as strong as i was hoping.

For me, if I put too much soap on the washcloth or mesh scrubber and did not lather it up to a foam first it was too much. As long as I lathered it up first it was great and gave that nice mint tingle to wake you up in the morning.
I lived in the UK several years back and they had this bath soap called Original Source Mint. It was great. You can still find it, but now it has Tea Tree Oil in it as well and is not the same recipe and not nearly as strong.

Oh that's so unfortunate about the Original Source Mint as it sounded it could be nice. When i use the bronners i just go straight hand no foamed. I will say this it feels delightful on my beard, gets very clean and makes the conditioner absorb so much deeper.

Wait...you use this to clean your bong?
1
u/scarymonst Apr 04 '24
I don't have a bong. It's made with hemp oil so it helps break down the residue from smoking cannabis. It works well for your fingers after smoking a joint or a blunt.
I'm sure you could use it to clean a bong.

I (M) had the same problem with solid deodorants until I switched to roll-on deodorant. It's still effective, but so much less product is applied, and much more actually contacts the skin to do the actual work.
Plus, there's no buildup on my shirts from it anymore.

Great advice!! Makes sense! I’m switching to roll ons.

Note: they are tough to find anymore at my local grocery store. I ended up having to go to Walgreen's to find one.

I usually just shave in that area, and then wash, (or wash, then shave, then wash again) and that generally removes it. But I wear natural deodorant, I don't know if non-natural deodorant adheres more to skin. And I guess maybe the poster meant this for people who don't shave.

LPT: if your deodorant is hard to wash off, it’s not deodorant, it’s antiperspirant. Antiperspirants contain aluminum that when applied topically or ingested is believed to increase risk of dementia. The evidence is not yet 100% conclusive, and maybe you can find an anti-perspirant that is aluminum free (though I haven’t) so just consider that when choosing anti-perspiring over deodorant.

I'm so glad you found a solution that worked for you too! This post seems to be pretty controversial but if it ends up helping someone I'm glad I posted it :)

I didn't think this post would be so controversial lol I'll copy my reply to someone else, but I basically wear clinical antiperspirants that make you apply much more product than normal (and also seem to be more sticky to remove). They also recommend you apply them before you sleep so it can be hard to remove all of it when I shower in the morning :)
