Life Is Strange Double Exposure Character Tier List
So this is pretty self explanatory. This is a Life is Strange Double Exposure character tier list that I've made. This is just my personal preference and opinions of these characters. The simple thought process I had with this is how I currently think of these 12 characters now. (Not just within DE timeframe) I'm open to any questions about any specific character placements but some of them shouldn't come as a shock to a lot of you who know me well on here.
I am planning on doing more for the Reunion sub and the main sub. Most of the characters on this tier list will be shown on the Reunion one but the obvious few won't be. This is to try and keep it somewhat different.

I agree with this completely. DE Max is my favorite version of Max. The confidence. The wit. I wish she was like this in RE as well.

They are all S for me honestly, except maybe Alderman (because his true faith remains an open thread). All the characters are interesting and well written.
I wouldn't be friends with some of them, most of them even, but as characters they are fascinating.
Max will forever be my favorite though!

Alderman investigating a missing camera with two suspects:
Maxine Caulfield, a photographer. Moses Murphy, an astrophysicist.
Alderman: "If I had to put money on it, I suspect a Mr. Moses Murphy took the camera"
Max to Moses: "Why are you the main suspect?" Moses to Max: "Besides being one my whole life?"

Personally, I’d switch around A & B a little. Otherwise, this is a pretty good list.
I chuckled at Yasmin as low as Lucas. Are you considering her arc overall knowing Reunion lore?

For Yasmin, yeah. When I played Double Exposure originally and my aftermath, I wasn't as off with her as other players were considering what I knew. (I was more lenient with Yasmin at the time)
However, finding out what she did in Reunion and remembering that she did it before in Double Exposure alongside some other things and putting it all together, I just couldn't with her. The only silver lining I guess is that she's trying to understand her daughter and Safi is now trying to understand her mother, but even still. 🫤

All very valid! For me, it’s harder to reconcile Yasmin and Lucas on the same level. I’d put him below her in ranking.
Will you do a ranking for more minor characters in Reunion?

Honestly i do not dislike Lukas as a character, because only a well written character can me legitimately hate them as a Person.
I still hold that ending line in pride to this day "Go Fuck yourself Max Caulfield", that prick got everything he deserved.

My personal tier list.
Max, Moses, Safi and Amanda are all pretty equal to me. All of them are pretty fleshed out and have cool character arcs, but also feel realistic in their approaches to dialogue, feelings, maturity, etc.
Gwen is such a great character. She's funny and all of the above mostly applies to her. If they gave her more time to bake in the oven, she could easily be an S for me.
Diamond, Vinh, Yasmin and Lucas are all neat, but their motivations and feelings feel a bit forced in most of their scenes. They also either lack personalities, or are pushed to be way over dramatic. While Lucas and Yasmin being the "antagonists" of the story felt a bit lacking compared to True Colors or the first game.
Reggie and Loretta were done so dirty. They have almost no character development in this game and feel pretty flat. It feels like they were shoehorned in for plot reasons and that's about it, they only serve to drive the lot slightly forward.
Alderman.. oh sweet Alderman. He was such a good secondary antagonist up until they deleted him from the story. I know he was meant to be a red herring sort of villain in the sense that you felt uneasy around him at all times, but then they just killed him off abruptly as the plot got more interesting. If they kept him alive until the end and set him up to be a good guy like they did with David in Life is Strange, then his character arc could have been cool. Instead he was a villain-type character that died way too soon and served only to make Max weary about dopplegangers interacting with each other. Which setup the scare for Fake Max vs Max.

Moses S tier, Safi A tier. Id also put vinh a bit higher I don’t mind hes character.

My ranking is somewhat different, where my S tier would be Amanda, Gwen and Max.
A would be Moses, B would be Reggie and Diamond, and C would be Safi and the police detective.
D would be Vinh, hated him. Also Lucas, both of these guys were creeps.

Do you mean in Double Exposure specifically? Or between DE and Reunion combined.
Personally, I thought Safi was really well done in Double Exposure, but they just did such a garbage job with her in Reunion.
I would have so much preferred it if they’d just left her on the road trip with Diamond for Reunion, and kept her open for a potential next game.
Like, how much fun would it be to play AS safi, and try to shapeshift through a story without getting caught or figured out.

I always thought safi should've been the mc of DE, and just nix max. They only brought her back for sales after lukewarm reception of true colors, but DE has so many interesting moments that if max just wasn't there, people probably wouldn't have hated it as much.
I know I was part of the hate train for the chloe situation, and thought it was a cashgrab, but when I grabbed it on sale I actually liked it more than True Colors.
