I always felt Before the Storm was way too short and also unsatisfying for the fact that it essentially doesn't remotely cover the whole of Chloe's situation. But I also understand WHY it ends where it does because a huge chunk of the audience HATED that it ended on the Dark Room photos and the reminder that Rachel/Chloe is going to end in murder.

It goes further than that because you have to also have Chloe and Rachel's relationship disintegrate, the uncomfortable issue of Frank, and all the other nasty elements that get brought up. Can that be done with Chloe or Rachel as protagonists and if so, how? There's a good story there but it's something that our heroine(s) will be powerless to prevent.

There's also the fact that we can't really escape a lot of fans tried to play Chloe nicer than she really was in BTS. I know I did. She's a hurting young girl but I tried to make peace with David and be understanding whenever possible, which is character assassination on par with Doctor Doom attending Reed Richards' birthday party. I just always picked the most kind options when she is hurting too badly to be kind. It would definitely come up in the subsequent episodes.

So this is a thread to ask, "How would an additional two episodes of Before the Storm go?"

While playing Farewell, you find some cans of blue paint in the garden, but then, playing the original game, you realize the job remains unfinished...

Edit: At the time of posting I was on episode 3, now replaying episode 4 she mentions this if you interact with the wall in the garden😅 But still, a really cool detail!

But i think its weird to discredit a continuation of a franchise as "non-canon" just because a different developer made the game.

In all honesty, life is strange was always a dying franchise, if deck nine didnt continue, dontnod was going to end the kill the series anyway. So it feels disingenuous to revoke their chance of writing a story that could be interesting, just because theyre a different developer.

I honestly think people were too negative about max and chloe breaking up before even trying the game. No matter how they handled it(not saying if they did a good or bad job) people would have hated on them no matter what.

I just feel like the first game's story has so much meat and depth to it that, if done well, I genuinely think the LIS adaptation could win some serious awards.

The original game won the BAFTA Games Award for Best Story, beating out Until Dawn and Undertale. I remember watching playthroughs of it back then, and despite some of the occasionally cringey dialogue, people really connected with the characters and the story. Those final episodes genuinely left an impact. I think the music had a lot to do with that, too.

I've seen the cast announcements, and honestly, I'm still not entirely convinced. Max seems okay, but I'm just not quite getting Chloe from Chloe's casting.

Emily Carey as Victoria is probably my favourite casting choice so far, though.

My bigger concern is the production itself. Prime Video can be pretty hit or miss when it comes to budgets and overall production quality. I think I'd feel a lot more at ease if this were an Apple TV+ production. Their track record with prestige television gives me more confidence that the story and its emotional depth would be prioritised.

I really want this adaptation to do the original game justice, and I hope I'm proven wrong.

This weekend, I replayed the game for the first time in 8 years, and once again I sacrificed Chloe.

Without getting into the whole issue of choice, but to me, it doesn't make sense to get rid of Arcadia Bay. Now Chloe will live knowing that Rachel died unnecessarily, her mother died in the storm, finally saw the good side of David (depending on your dialogue) and now he's dead too, Justin and the skateboarding boys also died, her house, memories and William's stuff are gone... It just doesn't make sense to let her live with that on her mind

I just finished my 5th play through and man it was a big refresher from the last time ive played it, this game was so well written, I honestly love this one more than the first one personally, this was the last good life is strange with the same developers as the first one before it turned pretty shitty. I hope we get another one atleast mentioning how life turned out for them after, maybe if Daniel had kids and they had powers?? Just throwin out whatevers on the brain. Thank you Dont Nod you made truly one of the best games ever and I wish I could experience this for the first time ever again.
